Good luck down in Indiana tomorrow. Remember before you shoot to think about shot placement. Our rifle season has been in a week now and im already tired of trying to make steaks and roasts out of hind quarter shot deer. Hear guys say they are not trophy hunters but meat hunters instead, then they blow both front shoulders to nothing and another to the hinds for good measure. For the last 20 or so years just before I pull the trigger I make a note of where it needs to go to prevent as much meat damage as possible, I am a meat hunter. I am also aware things happen, but patients keeps most of those accidents from happenin. Local butcher is just a butcher, not a miracle worker. Good luck all, can't wait to check in here tomorrow and see how you all are doing.

2 blown out shoulders equals guaranteed 2 hams, 2 loins, 2 tenderloins, a lot of neck meat that is in great shape.
I hate losing some meat but will gladly sacrifice the shoulders for the rest.

Shot mine perfect this morning, THANKFULLY!!! This is the exit wound in the heart. Perfect hole on the entry side of the heart.

Nice shot Genesis 27:3. Not a lot of meat to waste back in them ribs, and most times if you calm down and pick a spot you are more likely to hit where your aiming instead of just aiming for the front end and saying a prayer.

awww. ruined the heart... LOL.. although I love the heart.. very tasty
I agree.. I shot the high shoulder shot, not much loss of meat and no tracking
