My parents have two pin oaks that are usually loaded. Not a damn nut this year. Don't know about other varietals.

Most acorns are gone and ate already in my woods....deer cleaned em up, bumper crop too this year. I'd say only 10% or fewer left in the couple properties I hunt.

I had acorns two years ago on my place when most had few to none. I got a ton of deer traffic because of it. Last year pretty much everyone had acorns out the ying yang, so deer didn't have to go far to fill up on acorns. This year I didn't have many. I guess I was due for a down year. My deer activity was off quite a bit as a result.

Have a oak by a metal roofed shed and haven't heard them falling on it this year at all. Same scenario. I got a piece of metal roofing over our dogs house. BUT, instead if acorns, it's walnuts that fall. OMG that will scare the bejeeebeeee's out of you!!! Lol

Had a decent crop of acorns but they seem to be all gone. Turkeys and deer got them.

My thoughts are, if hunting over food gives you confidence, by all means do so. At this juncture in the season you might be better off hunting over or near thick travel corridors and excape routes.

I picked up over 25 gallon of saw tooth acorns from the three growing in my yard and they are still falling . I put them out in front of my cameras earlier this year and planted 100's on my neighbors property. I have a group of does that will come in my yard at night and eat them while my dogs in the pen are going crazy barking at them.

I had a ton of acorns this year...unfortunately they are all in a 5 acre area that is pain to get to without busting every deer in the area.
All red oaks in that area.
Sporadic white oaks here and there but they are bur oaks and not something the deer prefer as much as others.
