It seems to me with the youngsters now I see more misuse of words that sound alike; ie their and there etc. Is it just me or is there something to this, if so is it reliance on spellcheckers etc?

Knot a youngster hear, lol (41), but sometimes I am typing so fast, I don't even realize accidently misusing words. Lol. I work with a group of guys that are horrible at spelling, I even have the boss and secretary ask me how to spell things sometimes. They are still making it in life, soooo......

Texting and auto spell are going to ruin our kids vocabulary and spelling.

Was going to say, my former boss would ask me the most retarded questions sometimes, like how to spell breathe.

They're, there, and their are a pet peeve of mine. Someone brought it up to me and I'm trying to figure out the whole see, seen, and saw thing. Spell check and being in a rush is the culprit.

see present saw past seen past participle (has, have, had) seen use with those 3 helping verbs Yeah. And I still don't get it. I understand that just don't know which to use in which context. I have an ex, her dad is a English professor. He couldn't even explain it to me. I just said the heck with it and use seen.

I had a boss with a associates degree who couldn't spell, use grammar, or complete sentences on office notices. I was embarrassed for her. Yeah life's too short but if you want to look professional you need to at least attempt to be coherent. Facebook is the worst. But I don't consider Facebook a professional hangout place.

I will be the first to tell you that my grammar sucks. I had a hard time with it in school. Didn't do well at all. All I wanted was to pass it and move on. That's why I'm a machinist, I don't write books. Have made a decent living the last 27 years doing it. Wouldn't change it if I could. Will say one thing. I bet I can do math with the best of them in my head. Lol

How about "idea and ideal"? I wasn't thinking that these were interchangeable, but I haven't looked them up.
I always thought that this thought was an idea, and the situation was ideal. However, I've heard Obama interchange them.
