Just taking a interesting pole.
On opening day for firearms, what time will you get in the stand or blind and will you be in a stand or blind.
For me and my son we will be in our blind at midnight and I will get up and walk to my stand about a half hour before legal shooting time. He will most likely stay in the blind. Other wise its almost a half mile walk to the blind and stand. This way we don't spook to many of them over to the neighbors. Seems to work out pretty good. I have slept in my lounge tree climber before all night too. Had deer around me all night.

I'll be on my uncles farm in KY. Don't know which stand yet due to wind direction. I like to get in extra early down there, maybe an hour before day break. Hard not to bump any getting in anywhere.

I will start off in a stand...not sure which yet, I'll wait to get a wind update first. I often play opening morning by ear and if I feel the need, I don't hesitate to get down and change locations. In fact, both my Indiana "Book Bucks" came after moving from my original stand and hunting from the ground. It's one of the things I love about opening day. There are so many options in play!

About a half hour before light. Where depends on winds. Probably be with my youngest son, I'm hoping it's his year for a deer.

Getting there at midnight is dedication. I for one have never put to much emphasis about getting in early for gun season. I guess I have been taught by my father who always said there is no sense spooking them if you can't shoot if you see them first. He is an outstanding stalker and I learned to hunt this way from him. I have taken many deer coming and going from the stand but it depends on how noisy it is. Noisy I go about 1/2 hr but I hunt my own land.

Last place I hunted I would be in 1 hr befor leagle shooting light. There was a lot of surrounding pressure and they would Alys come in 30 min or less to shooting light and pushed the deer to my place. Now I go in 30 in befor because no pressure on neighboring properties so all I need is to not spook any and be ready when the time comes. As to where it will depend on the wind and where I think the deer will be on that day.

I'll be in by 6 or so. Probably going to hunt a big blown down oak tree. It's a great natural blind near a little saddle bucks like to use. This.spot allows me to shoot the majority of 2 north/south ridges.

I like to be in stand half hour before legal time. But my dad, the last fewvyears he hunted, would sit in the truck till about 9 then head in to HNF. He always seem to be back at the truck by noon...with a deer. That man KNEW that part of hnf and where everyone would push the deer to in gun season. Uncanny. RIP Dad. You're missed!

6 am. My sons, grandsons, granddaughters, myself. Hunkered down in ground blinds, or in stands. Waiting for legal shooting time.

I don't think we have ever killed a deer from our private ground at first light. Typically 2 hrs or more into the morning. That said we usually strive for the 1/2 hr before light to be nestled in. Good luck!
