I've heard the score is around 303 gross and 286 net. But hey, who knows? I certainly don't! Right... some folks can judge big deer and some folks can't. Sounds like you and me are in the can't group.... Yep; no way I could make a guess on something like that!

I don't feel sorry for him. That buck is going to make a pile of money.

Hey guys little update....the live pictures are all over facebook...if you have trouble finding it you can view it at my Page (Small Acre Hunting) or go directly to The Break's page as well. Dan is facing a whirlwind of accusations and offerings. He's already had the local ATV place come and offer a ATV vehicle for the rest of the year and next if they can pose it in one of their's and use it....he politely passed. The local DNR have copies of recovery footage or are going to, they were along for the entire recovery as well. From what I've learned from my friend from The Break, the second they got images of this deer Dan started taking EVERY precaution imaginable to solidify the kill being 100% fair chase...part of that was immediate communication with the state and local DNR offices and officers. Dan's killed some awesome bucks already but obviously nothing like this, and he fully expects someone is going to offer stupid kind of money to the landowner and this season is most likely his last on that farm...sad but I am guessing it was worth it Dan's got thick skin from what I've heard but if you are the praying kind, when you are up the tree say a quick one for our fellow hunter....he arrowed a DREAM buck and there is now a lot of negative bull he is dealing with when all he should be is nothing but happy and deal with nothing but good things. Blessings guys, and keep an eye on Deer and Deer Hunting...they will have the story write up....but the footage to the last of my knowledge will be aired on The Break next year on TV.

Saw the pictures and comments on Facebook. Nothing really that unusual about them. Not sure why this guy was trying so hard to prove fair chase as soon as he shot it? Is that a book deer thing? Seems more like it would be up to the DNR to prove not fair chase if they were so inclined. Don't want comments about your deer? Big or small or odd, then don't post the pictures. Nice deer but not any better than any other I've seen this season shot, it is just antlers.

Its not just a big deer...big deer are killed each and every year. Its a world class deer. A once in 10 lifetimes deer. A deer that would make conspiracy theories crawl from every dark corner a person can imagine.
Even taking the steps he has taken the rumors have already started to fly. If he hadn't established the pedigree ahead of time that he did some of those rumors might have grown legs....

Doesn't Ohio lead the nation in bucks over 200 inches? The state has a great mix of big forest and farmland.

I'll never grasp the swirl of controversy whenever someone bags a huge buck. You weren't there with him, didn't see the kill or the steps leading up to it, and it's really none of your business anyway. All the more reason to just keep it to yourself.
