That is a crazy looking rack. Congrats to him for being pro-active on the facts of the kill.
Cell phones and the internet have made it a bad thing to kill a monster buck.

If the story is accurate he did about all a guy could do to eliminate the shadows that all too often hover over when a guy kills a world class deer. Won't eliminate the rumors but if the DNR was involved from before the kill the rumors should be minimized.

There have been people questioning the legitimacy of big bucks for ages. That is why so very many of the early big deer never got published in record books or mounted to be displayed on walls. You might be surprised as to how many were put in barns and just not discussed again.
This type of thing is just one of the bad things that I see the outdoor shows have brought or at least accentuated in the sport. Don't get me wrong, these shows have brought a ton of useful information to the masses. I just don't see many at all these days that is a true teaching episode. It's all about the trip, the cameras, the monster that they just smoked, and more product placement ads than a NASCAR post race interview session with the entity top ten finishers.
I remember when the only size questions I ever heard was number of points and weight. I think I miss those days.

I would probably let it walk. I wouldn't want to deal with that.
Just kidding but I never understand the jealously thing. Don't get me wrong we all would like to be a guy who harvest one like that but hats off to the guy that did. Isn't that the reason we go hunting. For the opportunity of a lifetime no matter what the score is. I find pleasure in just reading about the story and the success. It sounds like he put more effort than 99 percent of us ever would to pursue this magnificent creature.

Okay before some of you start seeing or hearing the rumors swirl by I'll break down what I know: This deer was followed all year and the hunter has Trail Cam images of it, he also got a written statement from the landowner to protect his right to be there, he even contacted the local CO's and informed them he was after a world class whitetail and they would be called should a shot ever occur for recovery. He did that and the LE/CO's were present for the recovery which occurred Tuesday, shot happened Monday night. It was a hunt which was filmed. There is a crummy photo swirling that the hunter and the director of The Break (the hunter is a crew member) is asking us to not share. The only way I know and 100% trust this to be legit is a friend (consider him a brother as far as trusting his word) is a hunter for The Break and he has relayed to me the story. I am on the list of folks to be informed of and receive better photos so I can share on Small Acre Hunting and I'll be sure to pass them along here. I however will not post the crummy one they've not been happy has been leaked. Thing is a GIANT and green scored just over 300 gross. Dan (the hunter) is experiencing what I cannot imagine, the mud being thrown is crazy. I am happy I will never have to worry about this, makes killing a WORLD class whitetail nearly not a good thing in some respects. He needs to do a bit better job product placement on his pictures. Can't tell the brand of bow and I don't see a hat.

With all the jealousy and rumors that all ways follow most if not all big bucks now day. I couldn't honestly tell you if I killed that deer if there would ever be a tape measure on him. Or even how many people that would know about it. I'm sure defending yourself days on end takes most of the enjoyment out of it.

Not sure I could compose myself enough even to shoot that monster if he walked by me. Be a nervous wreck and probably just fall out of the tree. What a deer, congrats..

No doubt that is an absolute monster. Will be interesting to see what the official score is eventually.
To me, 303 gross/ 286 net, looks like there would have to be more than 17" worth of deductions on that deer. But then again, I've never measured anything much over 150".
