Spotlighting last night we saw a couple 2.5 year olds fighting. Several younger bucks following single does around and one mature buck by himself. We also saw several other bucks in the middle of fields alone moving. You never know what is going to show up this time of year. My buddy also shot a 180" buck yesterday evening following a doe. I just saw the picture. Excellent buck .. But missed him at 10 yards (which is understandable on a buck of that magnitude)and then get another shot at him? The deer God was smiling on him! Seems to be the norm. Another buddy did the same thing a few years on another 170+

Saw my first rut activity yesterday. Very big buck trailing a doe around 8:30am with 3 smaller bucks following him.

Sounds like the activity is starting to pick up a little. Might be a slow opening weekend for gun if the rut is starting to come in now. Oh well hopefully there might be some stragglers coming in to heat next weekend. Good luck to all and be safe. God bless.

Seen three bucks today and they were busy eating. Weren't looking for does at all. One was a 8 point big body, another was just a forky but nice size and the third was to far to tell but the rack had some size to it. But they all were in separate fields eating.

Just had a small 8 come through chasing a doe and grunting about every third or fourth step and about 5 mins behind came a small 6 pointer doing the same thing.

Seen a real nice buck in died mount up twice on same doe in field. He wouldn't let her get 20 yards away from him.

There are a lot of bucks moving in daylight hours right now. This week is a great time to hunt. I have seen several bucks walking down ridges looking for does during the past week.

I'm hunting East Central Indiana. Delaware county to be exact. I would think that with you being farther north, you would be slightly further along in the rut than I would be down here, but I am not positive on that. All I know is that it is definitely the time to be in the woods.

My trailcam pics are just starting to show lone mature deer instead of groups. A wierd year so far. Weather has been good, crops and food sources good, but low deer sightings overall for me.
