Was up checking out the Patoka river wildlife area for possible deer hunting today. As I was walking out there was a man there filming with his phone and turned to me and asked where my Hunter Orange was? I said that is only during hunting season. He went to the sign and said, but this is a wildlife refuge. I said yes, and he said should not have to wear orange in a wildlife refuge. I said well just during the certain times for hunting season, he said back at the sign, but its a wildlife refuge, I dont understand why I should wear orange if its a wildlife refuge. I said oh well and just got in my truck and left. One of those tree huggers I guess that thinks a wildlife refuge should not be any hunting I guess. Oh well, made for a good laugh on my ride back.

Probably a a bird watcher who has contributed zero to the conservation of wildlife. I've had a couple of interesting chats at muskatatuck with them

I have said for a long time that all state land should require an access fee and that fee should be a valid hunting or fishing license. We would get more Pittman Robertson Act money that way.

That's a dang good idea!! To take it a step further, I think the Pittman-Robertson Act should be amended so that it also gets it's percentage of fees charged for entering any State or National Parks. If the draw of them is any of the wildlife that is there, why shouldn't the wildlife benefit? While we're at it, make durn sure that none of that money can be transferred to the general fund, or siphoned off in any other way.

Honestly, I think they should charge for a permiyt to ride bikes on all state bike paths. You would have to buy a $10.00 sticker and have it on your bike. They would raise a lot of money to help pay for those bike paths. we have to buy them for a boat, so why not a bike permit?

I have mixed feeling on the PNWR. It has created a lot of very good hunting for the public, but on the other hand it has taken away a lot of prime trapping areas. The Snakey Point area for years was prime water trapping for muskrats, coons and mink. Now you can't trap it, which I think is BS. If the public can hunt and fish it, it should be able to trap it also. Every acre it acquires is an acre no longer available for trapping.

We have to have a 20 dollar bridle tag to ride horses on State Property.

MS660, do you hunt up around that area? I was looking at the new property they have. Only bad thing is you have to walk so far to gwet to places. With a situation with me and my bad back, that will keep me from going to a good area to hunt. But I feel it should be able to be traped, at least allow a lottery to help and control the population there.

You do have to have the ability to walk long ways using the refuge ground.

Thats cool, what type of contract work? I just hate that you have to walk so far. Maybe they will have some better parking spots available.

Try explaining what will happen if they're on the refuge without blaze during a required season and a CO happens by, the usual response is "But, I'm not hunting."

We spray all the parking lots and trails for weeds, built and installed several gates. Do work on the islands Duke Energy built for the Terns down by the power plant.
