I want to thank Woody for removing the negative thread about my sons kill. This thread will be positive and I ask the admin if it does become negative to please remove.
A little about my boy, he has been in the woods before he could walk, I carried him many miles as an infant and toddler. He started following me at a young age and quickly feel in love with deer hunting. He harvested his first deer at age 11 and has shoot many since. He is currently 16 and hunts every chance he gets. He hunts with a H&R single shot 44 with a bushnell 3 by 9. Shoots Hornandy ammo and is as good a shot with that rifle as you will find.
The beautiful 11 point he harvested was shot on the Sunday of the two day youth deer hunt. It was an evening hunt. We have had permission to hunt that land for probably close to ten years now. We have never seen this buck before. The stand location was choose a year ago and was a productive stand for us last season.
Words cannot explain my disappointment in how a few people have attempted to sabotage my sons deer. Shame on those of you involved.
people have said that I must be proud..well kind of. I'm happy for him, proud..no. I proud of the fact that my boy doesn't litter when he hunts. I proud the he asks permission when hunting private land. I'm proud that he has good grades. I raised my boys to realize that killing a deer is a gift from God. No matter how big the deer is, you still have taken the life of something. Killing something shouldn't be taken lightly. And to remain humble and grateful.
People push this "get a kid involvled in the outdoors". My kid is involvled in the outdoors, please don't ruin that by telling lies out of jealousy.
Thank you and please if you don't have anything good to say..................

Congratulations to you and to your son on harvesting such a great deer. Even more to be happy about is that you are raising your son up to be a good, honest, and respectful man. 190 inch deer or not, that is more than something to be proud of. Do you have any pics of this amazing trophy?
As far as the naysayers go- There's always those who can't be happy for anyone but themselves. Don't let them get to you. Karma has a knack for working its way back to these people.

Congrats to him. Unfortunately its a crash course in life. In the end the experience might actually be good for him .... confirm who his true friends and family are. Its easy to tell someone to not worry about what other folks say and its a much different thing to live by those words.
Good luck to him.
Now .... got any field pics of that monster?

greetings Jealousy is a horrible thing, thats a fact. Swilk has about said it all, but remember young man all us hunters are not the same, problem is sorting the good from the bad, experience of life will teach you that. straight barrels Billy

It's very sad that an adult cannot act in a reasonable manner due to petty jealousy. There was wailing by some about even having a Youth Weekend because a youth might kill "THEIR" buck. I am thrilled at him being able to take such a fine animal. Congrats to you both and let him know there are plenty of us pleased how well the weekend went for him. Having said that........where are those field pics!

Glad that you joined and gave us the true skinny on your son's buck. It seems like every great deer taken the jealous folks come out of the woodwork. They seem to think if they can't kill a big buck like that, no one can. Especially a youngster.
Weather the storm and enjoy the buck and the good memories it produced.
Our folks here won't turn negative on here. That is one reason I pulled the thread and waited until more information could be gathered. The thread will stay up but any negative comments will be promptly deleted
Good hunting to you and your son..
Yes, we would love to see some field photos if you have any...

First and foremost Congrats to you as a father in raising your son up right and to truly enjoying and having a respect for the great outdoors with family and friends. It's unfortunate that our society has become what it has these days, but stay positive and keep raising your son in the right direction! That's the most important thing you can do. Congrats to the young man for a trophy of a lifetime!

Great for you and your son! I am just now getting my 15 year old grandson started hunting. We hunted both days of youth weekend. Good experience for both of us. I don't get the negative comments (nor did I see them) What possibly can be negative about this? Real, real hard to understand that mindset. The word that comes to mind is juvenile. Oh well, just move on......

Oh well, just move on...... I believe that another "hunter" (using that word loosely) announced that the young man had killed the deer illegally. To confirm why another "hunter" would do that you would have to ask that hunter but my guess would be because he wanted to kill the deer himself and if he couldnt have it he didnt want anyone to have it.

Congrats to your son! And kudos to you for getting him in the outdoors at and early age. Your message was well stated and I am sorry that some people view EVERYTHING with such skeptical eyes and instant negativity. I did have a chance to view the picture and was very impressed and hoped it was as legitimate so that some other could be served some crow pie. Congrats again
