This weekend got me thinking. Friday evening I did not know yet whether I was going to go goose hunting or deer hunting in the morning. Since I have gotten 4 deer I was planning on going goose hunting but at the last minute decided to go on one last muzzleloader hunt.
Now the only reason I was able to do this was because I have a lifetime license and I thought it sure would be nice if others had the luxury of going out "one more time" without having to buy a license. No way I would have spent $24 for this one hunt. I would have just gone goose hunting.
I started wondering what if the state sold something along the lines of what the youth license is like but to adults at a higher price that would allow them to have the same luxuries of a lifetime license but pay for it on a yearly basis.

I think that you could be on to something there. A yearly "Lifetime License". Maybe call it a "Sportsman's License". I wonder how much the hunters on here would be willing to pay for something like that? I think this is something that we can discuss and present to the IDNR. Thanks..

I'd be all for it. I got to the state a little late to seriously consider purchasing a lifetime license. I never know when I'm going to have an opportunity to hunt, so I paid $20.75 for an resident hunting/fishing license, $24 for a deer archery license, $24 for bonus antlerless license, $24 for a deer gun license and if I hadn't shot a deer in the gun season, I would have had to pay $24 for a muzzleloader license. There are some states where I don't think residents pay that much for moose or elk tags. I could be wrong about that. I wouldn't mind buying something perhaps on a 2 or 5 year basis. Michigan can sell you 3 tags that are good for all seasons (based on deer rather than season). I'd much rather pay for a deer tag that I can use during the different seasons until I fill that tag rather than buying a tag for the different seasons. Just my 2 cents.

Several states including Florida (i think) offer "sportsman license" on a annual basis.
