Just called the DNR Law Enforcement division and I was told that suppressors are not allowed on any state owned property. Just a word to the wise. The number is 1-812-837-9536.

Interesting, works for bonus antlerless permits and suppressors but couldn't work for HPR's......

I wanted to hunt squirrels with mine on the Huntington F&W area but was told it was illegal. So I called Salamonie and they referred me to the DNR Law enforcement division. I talked to the lady there and she said to call Salamonie. When I explained that they referenced me to her she said,"Wait a Minute" After a fairly lengthy time on hold she came back with the verdict. Not allowed on any state owned property. Takes the fun out of it when you have very limited access to private ground.

Is it illegal to hunt with them in Indiana, or is private land exempted?

Is it illegal to hunt with them in Indiana, or is private land exempted? It's legal.

Is this a new law, an old one that they did not get rid of when legalizing hunting with suppressors, or just a DNR policy not allowing suppressors on state-owned properties? I do not understand the reasoning behind this!!

I can't speak to air guns. My understanding you can hunt on private ground with a supressor if you have landowner permission. I have provided the phone number for the DNR Enforcement Division. If you have questions you should call them and ask. I originally thought that once suppressors were made legal in Indiana that you could hunt freely with them. I was wrong and I thought that other people may have thought as I did and I would make hunters aware of the correct situation.
