I have a 96 ford Econoline. I can start it up and it'll idle for days. I get in it and if I give it gas and let off, it dies. I can drive it all day long and as long as when I stop I keep some pressure on the gas it will keep running, pick my foot completely up, dies immediately. I'm guessing fuel pump? Any other ideas?

Yeah I know it's a Ford. That's besides the point.

Idle air control valve be my guess You sure because I know what a fuel pump is and how to change. Never heard of that whatchamacallit.

The IAC is on the throttle body.

Fuel filter is the cheapest place to start.

Usually a pump is either pumping or its not.

Why change the pump if you haven't checked the fuel pressure when it's running and the problem occurs?

Could be the fuel pressure regulator too.

I agree with the IAC. Take off the throttole body, clean it and the IAC with Sea Foam. If that doesn't work, then I would get a fuel pressure gauge (Advance Auto or Autozone loaner tool) and check the fuel pressure to see if the fuel pump is working. Replacing the fuel pump will require dropping the gas tank.
