My buddy Dave filmed his son take his turkey this morning across the street from my place. Video is short on here but Dave and his son Keegan were fired up! I got to stop and congratulate the young man on my way to church. The Tom came in and tried to whoop their "funky chicken" and took a face full of lead for his efforts!

Good for Keegan. I hope while you were in church that you were praying for a big Tom, team member. LOL. Good luck tomorrow. I'll let you know how Darrin and I do

Thanks. I'm on my "lunch break" now sitting by my woods and not seeing or hearing anything. Got a call from a friend today that said he lined up a new farm for me to hunt but I haven't seen the property so I will have to try and get up with him to have him at least show me property lines.

Same for me at Missi. Went up today and spent hours scouting. Nothing, absolutely nothing. No birds in fields anywhere even off Missi property. I am thinking that the cold winter may push back the best hunting time a week or two in north central IN. We didn't have much snow but it was real cold for real long. May impact timing.

True. The cold and wind drive me insane! I shouldn't be digging my late season deer cloths out for opening day of turkey season! But, I am still grateful for the chance to go. I don't know how much hunting you watch on tv but I saw Mark Drury shoot a turkey out of his box blind. Made me think I should give that a try with my buddy heater! LOL

LOL No kidding on the late season deer clothes. When I fed horses this morning around 3:30 it was snowing/raining and 34 degrees. So I dressed for the weather and drove two hours south. Umm, bad planning. Lost three pounds today sweating. Thank goodness for good wicking clothes. Only mistake I made was a big one. Layered cotton between my UA Coldgear and everything else. Dumb, real dumb. What the heck was I thinking? Cold I guess. The cotton was still wet on the drive home!! Yep, a heater in a box blind is the way to go. I have one on my place. 12 feet up and 8x8. Just needs a roof and walls and I am good to go.

I had on a fleece base layer topped with UA and then my hunting pants and shirt. My back was sore by 7:30 from shivering! Thought I was going to have to have my wife come dump warm water on me to unthaw me from the ground.

HA! I kept staring at the box blind thinking about the nice carpeted floor, insulated walls, cloth padded office chair inside, windows to block the wind, heater.... But then my stubborn side said "Turkey hunting is suppose to be in the warm sunshine on the ground against a tree and by golly you're going to stick it out!" I was sure regretting that! LOL! To be honest, the only thing that truly kept me from climbing into it is because I have never shot my turkey gun from an elevated position such as a box blind and I didn't think my first time should be at a live turkey. Just didn't seem ethical.
