Hello all! I am wondering if anyone else is seeing any strutting turkeys? Saw a nice flock on US HWY 231 near 550 N in Jasper County early this morning and there were two strutting. And no, I do not have any pics. I am assuming they are just "stretching" or "sunning" a little and not actually looking for love yet. Still haven't seen any sign of them returning to my woods from their wintering grounds but they usually do not until the first of April. Probably get cameras out in the nest couple weeks.

The other morning I saw a field with 7 strutters, 32 hens and 14 jakes. The next day there were about half the hens and 4 strutters.

I haven't seen a ton of birds either. Just a flock here and there. Maybe some warmer days will bring them back out soon

I haven't seen one yet, but I haven't left Greenwood in a while. Hey, last year, we did have a doe in our front yard. My daughter was afraid to get out of the car.

Have seen a flock of about 30 birds near Bluffton with 3 or 4 toms strutting for nearly 2 weeks now. Also, down to Brown County this week for kids spring break and probably seen 100 turkeys between Nashville and Columbus on 46. Seen several toms strutting.

I'll be hunting Yellow Wood some this year.

The 6 toms I've been watching with the hens are breaking up..saw 2 of them with 2 hens and another 2 strutters with a few other hens on other side of property..so the group of 19 birds are now smaller groups of 4-6 birds..things are starting to get in motion here in West Central Indiana..my buddies in Missouri and Kentucky are seeing increased activity also..I had birds gobbling the past two mornings. Nice weather has them fired up.

Turkey activity in my area has really picked up the past several days...but I'd say the activity I'm seeing now is about what you'd expect to see in a normal year, Jon ..not really early..in late March and early April, whenever the weather and temps start warming and sun shining, that will get the birds transitioning in to that Spring breeding phase..this transition can take several weeks peaking from mid April through early May...and with Spring green up birds will start searching different food services also..so they'll be on the move searching for those feeding areas also..
I'm seeing big flocks breaking up and many strutting birds..so we are in that transition phase from Winter to Spring breeding in West Central Indiana...things seem to happen earlier the further south you go and a little later the further north..but no doubt in a 2-3 weeks turkey's should enter in to peak breeding stage in the Midwestern States.

Went to Jefferson Co Sat morning and only heard 12 birds. First one at 6:25. Hopefully it will be picking up. I did see well over 100 birds on way home from Madison to Seymour. Numerous birds in full strut.

I dreamed last night that I saw two BIG ones sitting on the same tree stump. I woke up from excitement. Maybe the best dream I ever had.

Actually saw 2 strutters about 500 yards behind my house in a green field. With that sun shining they stood out like a star in the sky!
