I'm fairly new to coyote hunting and had some questions.. 1)What is the best time to go? I always go at night using the spotlight method and set up a call 15-20 yards away from me but we have had minimal luck with this. 2) What kind of call SHOULD I use? I usually stick to the cottontail distress call. 3) Is my Remington 770 .243 a solid gun to do this hunt with?

The first couple and last couple of hours of the day are good times too.

I've always had my best luck during a nice calm snow. Easier to see and they always seem to be out hunting. .243 is a good choice.

Best luck in early evening - early morning, just like anything else. But, the best time to go is when you have time. Follow this video

I had a lot of luck right at dusk and an hour after first shooting light.. but I've called them mid day
Depends on if you know where they bed at .. if you do then you can set up on them anytime of the day
Get an electronic caller wireless you can put out in front of you 50 yards or so, keep their attention away from you and your location.
Cass Creek/Altus makes some decent ones for reasonable price,
