I just saw two bucks running a doe on the hillside at work. I have pictures of a buck working a scrape on January 28th. It seems awful late for rut activity. Some bucks have already shed their antlers. Is anyone else still seeing anything like that?

I'm not trying to play any games. I'll post the trail camera pics later this evening. Me and a coworker watched the bucks trailing a doe today. I thought it was crazy to.

There are ALWAYS freaks in nature. Animals don't always follow the script. If s doe or two freakishly comes in this late, then why would there not be rutting activity? I've learned to never say never.

Not saying you are .Deer especially bucks scrape Year round !!!Antlers no antlers whatever . I have been in these late rut conversations before and could they be chasing here to breed her ??Yep will her fawn live if she has it and if she gets bred its not likely as it will be too late in the season and likely her first fawn .Yearling doe's that have fawns usually don't have much success rearing them especially born late .They usually have one and its undersize and has less than a 25 % chance of life beyond fall and only a small percentage of those doe fawns actually breed and conceive . Nuff said I think on it as this one can heated and full of assumptions fast.

I wasn't trying to start any heated debates. I don't care much for message board drama. I just wondered if anyone else was seeing anything. I don't recall ever seeing this kind of behavior this late in the season. Here he is hitting the branch and pawing the ground. The date is correct but the time is off by an hour.

I pulled some game cameras yesterday and saw many fresh worked scrapes and two nights ago we seen three bucks all chasing a single doe. It's weird but I'm seeing it also.

I've got the same thing over here. I have seen fresh scrapes late before but this year takes the cake. They are still hitting the scrape behind the house. Generally this scrape is mostly empty by gun season. Even been seeing fresh rubs in different places.

Will add I wonder if it's not because due to the over abundance of acorns and other forage this year the fawns were able to reach that magic # where they get bred in time.

Saw several fresh rubs and scrapes this weekends...thought it was a little odd, though I do know some scrapes are visited year-around.

Scrub... I believe it does happen. When conditions are right, and who is to say that it doesn't with the all sign's that are seen. Here is a pic from a trail cam a buddy sent me a couple years ago.

I completely believe it. I have seen several deer running back and forth behind my house. I never thought a second about it until i went out and checked my cameras on 2/13. I had two bucks fighting with some does in the background and I also had some pics of does running from bucks. I also had a buddy say that he saw 8 bucks following a doe. I think it is a weird year. I can add pics if anyone wants to see.

Yesterday was out checking my rabbit traps in a field. About 50 yards from me up jumped a decent ten pointer. He just stood there and looked at me. He would walk about two or three steps away then come back. Now I was standing with blaze hoodie and hat on. This went on for about a minute all the time him looking at me and back where he jumped up. When he jumped he had ran about ten yards. He kept looking at me and back to where he jumped. After awhile I got tired of messing with him and walked towards him. Doe jumped up out of her bed and he followed her. Rutting??? I know if they aren't bred they will come back into estrous. Maybe someone that knows can say. How many times will they cycle if not bred? Also it wasn't a yearling doe. She was about same body size as him. Definitely a big doe.

Every 28 days or until bred I Think I knew that, but is it an indefinite time. Wonder if a doe isn't bred if she will cycle until may or June. Just curious, something always wondered.
