Well, got up this morning to coating of ice. Now it is raining hard and adding to it. Lucky deer. NW corner of our great state, LaPorte county, Indiana. Ever hear of Michiana? That's us. Now fog is starting. Supposed to rain all day then turn to snow, with high wind Sunday and temps dropping to 5deg Sunday night. Lake effect snow can add up very quickly here, nothing for us to get 1-3 feet in a hurry. The deer will be getting a free pass for the rest of the weekend. Still have an urban spot but have never seen a deer there this late. So, I am officially throwing in the towel on a good year. Squirrel will be the only thing we will be pursuing from here on out. It was a year ago that we had a blizzard and -15deg temp. I got very sick from working outside and missed an entire week of work. Deer got a pass then too. Ahhhh, memories. Something I wouldn't mind forgetting about though.

It was so foggy here in SE IN that I don't think a person could have hunted. Then the rain started about 10:00 and hasn't stopped.

The crappy weather is a good excuse for me to give up but to be honest the last three sits have been busts so where I'm at the deers have been "safe" at least from me.

My daughter and I were out this afternoon, in the rain and got skunked. I'm heading out in the morning and get my daughter back in the woods in the afternoon. With the big change in weather, I'm hoping to get a couple more in the freezer.

I got a yearling last night, and was up in the tree this morning. Had 2 does walk in and stop at 30 yds, they must not have liked my tree umbrella. There were two bucks about 40 yds past them, following them. The does stood there for about 5 minutes deciding if they wanted to continue to walk or turn around. (I really was hoping for the former). They turned around and I sat for another 2 hrs without seeing anything except 2 squirrels. Wind was iffy, but I thought I could get away with it.
Tomorrow the wind will be better, hope I don't get blown out of the tree. I am hoping that the wind doesn't pick up till 9 or so. The deer will be done moving by then. There was about 1/4" of ice on the ground this morning - very slippery!!
