No way that could have been 50 years ago! Could it?

Dad was a leadfoot, and had some racer friends when he was growing up. He's still kicking himself that he bought a new 1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown in Feb '67 after seeing the prices of the used genuine original Cobras from the same year.........
I can still remember being small enough to stand up on the rear floor in that Imperial, and watching the speedo needle on the right side of the 120 as he was pulling away from a mustang. I have no idea how fast it would really go, 440 4bbl 2.73:1 gear in the rear. Even with limited slip there would be 2 stripes on the street if hammered from a stop.

I've always wanted one. A Ft. Wayne radio station put on an event a month ago at the coliseum and they had a replica of one there.

Back when I turned wrenches for a living we had a customer who built a replica that we got to test and tune. He bought a real 427 for it and ran it for a while before we detuned it a bit.....one of the more brutally fast street cars I've ever seen.
Total pain in the butt to drive but it put a long lasting grin on your face.
