I'm guessing the Red Label was a sales volume issue. AS for the H & R - Freedom Group strikes again

They own several Firearm companies (including Remington) and have in many peoples opinion, including mine, done a poor job of managing them. Among the group is H&R - unfortunately for them

Hhmmm....I would guess the recent trend of "economical" bolt guns helped kill the H&R. It used to be just about the only centerfire option at its price point but there are a handful of bolt guns competing with it now.

With Remington agreeing to repair the triggers on model 700s, I would imagine 2015 will be a very tough year financially for Remington (and thus the Freedom Group).

Wondering what the problem is with the Red Label. I'm guessing just not enough of a market; when they could be using the same equipment for better selling items those items take precedence.
