Today I took the wife out for supper. After we went to Dicks to get hunter orange for my recent blind purchase. I get to the hunting department and ask where it would be located. He said we don't have that. Okay that's fine. But he said you don't need it. I told that the regs said that you need have 144 square inches of orange. He looked at me and said, who cares, ill be using a 30-06 this weekend in Indiana.
I wish I knew his name so that a certain CO. would at least know about his intentions.
Why do people like this are around giving us decent hardworking, honest hunters a bad name.

Why do people like this are around giving us decent hardworking, honest hunters a bad name. and even worse, he works in a Sporting Goods store telling customers inaccurate information concerning Hoosier regs. While 99 percent dutifully learn the laws there DOES exist some who go to such a place to ask questions on what is or is not legal. A recent trip to Wally World to go the pharmacy had me looking around in the ammo section while waiting and I watched as a guy talked to the salesperson about buying a 30-30 rifle and ammo. I smiled and asked if he had an out of state trip planned and if so where to. He said he wasn't going on a trip. The purchase was for deer season.......here. The salesperson had just told him that the current proposal was approved for 2014. I picked up the 2014 hunting pamphlet laying on the counter and turned to the page concerning legal weapons for deer and handed it to him adding that if anyone told him that such was not up to date he should call the CO and if he didn't have the number to call the County PD and ask them to connect him to the CO .......BEFORE buying the rifle and ammo. Right then the pharmacy texted my phone that the prescription was ready. I went and got my meds at the pharmacy by the exit and got out. The salesman was on the radio with the store manager reporting "an old man in sporting goods harassing customers". (sheesh) Blind leading the blind. God Bless and hunt safe this weekend gang. Steve

You see, there the problem. There are way too many people working at jobs that no nothing about what they are selling. The Clerk should be well educated about Indiana's regulations regarding legal equipment for Deer Hunting. I think he or she should be fired!!

I was in a local Dick's sometime back, I overheard a customer asking about muzzleloaders and the employee tells him that he has one in 30-06.
He would have had a terrible time shoving that round down the bore!

I avoid Wal-Mart like the plague if I can help it...and anymore I can't hardly stand to talk to anyone at the gun counter in most of the big box stores (Rural King included). It seems when someone puts no a vest that says "How can I help you today?" it really means "How can I tell you in so many ways that I know everything?"
Then you add in the guys there handling guns while coon-fingering the trigger and having no muzzle discipline...I'd rather just stay at home and shop from the catalog!

What they should be saying is...... "Want Fries With That?"

I once had a gentleman at a gun counter tell me that I had no business shooting a 12 gauge and did everything in their power to sell me a 20 gauge or .410 for waterfowl hunting simply because I was a woman.

That is almost a problem in the way new regulations are adopted these days. I heard guys talking today about riffles being legal for this year because the rules were adopted. I explained the process to them and told them to make sure they explain it to their buddy.

The BIGGEST problem with places like Walmart is that the managers pull employees from different departments to fill in the void in other departments .

Problem is that these places sell guns I've only.been to one or two Dicks but I never understood why they had a hunting section... seems sometimes gander mtn has some half gun nuts. I'm pretty young but have owned loads of guns I love going in there and acting like I don't know anything just to be "mislead" if I have any real questions about guns I go to a gunsmith or... if I am in between I turn to members of the online community with similar needs as mine. P.s. I went to wal mart bought a yard of hunter orange fabric at 2.97 a yard now I'm legit after I clothes pin it on my blind. Just in case you are still looking they had a blind cap at Walmart for 25$ also in the sporting goods

Yup...been told for years by many gun shop and sporting goods employees that the machine guns and suppressors I own are illegal...been laws against them for decades they tell me. I am a bad, bad man....according to them.
You will find misinformation everywhere you go. And all I can say is this....
Trying to teach some people about certain things is like trying to teach a pig to sing. In the end, all you have done is waste your time and irritate the pig.
Do as you wish but I prefer just to leave them to wallow in their ignorance rather than start an argument over facts that they have no idea exist or how to comprehend them once they are presented with them.
Reminds me of an old saying...you can lead a democrat to the truth...but you can't make him think.
