Scored my first archery whitetail and first buck kill today after it being a dream of mine for 30 years. Growing up I never had anyone in the family to take me hunting and no one in the family with land (stuck in the city). Had a few friends take me under their wings when I was in the Army from 90-96 and did some dove & whitetail hunting down in Texas. I hunted archery down there but never got one, I did kill a doe with a rifle. Got out of the Army in 96 and moved back to Indy, tried hunting public land a few times but without any good land close I didn't have the time to scout and had several bad experiences so I gave it up. Fast forward to last year and a friend and coworker took me up on my offer to film his turkey hunting for a TV show a friend of his was trying to put together. I ended up filming him take a nice tom in KY, then I got to take one. That led me to filming him last fall for whitetail and I got to hunt but never got a shot. We did it all again this year and today I was fortunate enough to have this guy come in. We filmed him for 45 minutes a few days ago while locked down with a doe and this morning he was running one hard. She came by us at a full sprint and I grabbed my bow. I made a rookie mistake and didn't get him to stop (he was walking slowly) and ended up hitting him back. We let him be for two hours then tracked him about 200 yards where he'd laid down in a bunch of thorns next to a log and died. He was on our "maybe" list this year but when I saw the G2's there was no way I was letting him walk. I took out his liver with a Rage Hypodermic. Hoping next time I'll do a better job but I got him and I'm thrilled.

Welcome to the forum. Thats one heck of a first buck! Sounds like you've stepped into a good hunting situation after all these years. You've put in a lot of time waiting for it, you earned it. Congrats!

Congratulations on a nice buck! It seems kind of funny that this is your first post here, considering that we cross paths on two or three other sites. Lol!
