I have a question and would like to hear your thoughts on. When tracking wounded game at night after dark with a light is it legal to carry your bow/weapon with? A few years ago we were tracking my local Wardens bear and he was caring his sidearm, as was I. I asked him when we were done if I was legal, he said nope but we were using common since. I have watched the pro's countless times on TV tracking with their weapon in hand after hours.

What the law says and what is common sense/ethical can sometimes be a two way street in my eyes.

I'm confident it what the CO would say but I was just wondering what everyone that is legal by the book/to the tee, would say. Do they make an exception? Do the wardens? I have tracked MANY bear at night and have found MANY still alive as well as deer and have always done the ethical thing but like I said just curious what all the by the book and no way else folks would say. More of a discussion then question I guess.

State by state laws are different. What is legal in Indiana might be illegal in Minn. I don't know of any bears in Indiana......... I don't think an answer from Morrison will do you any good.

I wasn't sure how to answer him - so I'll go with: what he said!

Legal? I'm going to say no. I wouldn't go after a wounded bear at anytime without a gun.
Heck, I think it's illegal to have your weapon loaded after/before shooting hours, isn't it?
