We know what the retailers charge, but what to the Wholesalers charge the Retailers? And most important, what do the factories charge the Wholesalers? In hundreds of posts I have seen concerning .22's, this has never been addressed!

I guess the price of transportation, labor, demand, supplies on hand, plus a little greed all has to do with the final cost to us.

While at the local Shooting Range the other day I noticed a guy shooting a 22LR Rifle for several hours. He told me that he buys his ammo and the store limits his purchases to one Brick of 22LR ammo per person. So he takes his wife, daughter, son-in-law, aunt, grandmother, son and neighbor with him to the store and they each buy a Brick of 22LR ammo each and wipe out the supply the very same day that Gander Mountain gets their weekly shipment of 22 LR ammo in the store.
I wish that they would limit guys like this from buying up all the available 22 ammo in the store each week. Who needs that much 22 ammo unless you are trying to resell it at a higher price.
Limit sales of ammo to a GROUP and don't let each member of a big group buy all the ammo at one time. That's just crazy.
I read the story above about the increased demand for 22 ammo and that's exactly what is going on. I would hope that the manufactures would note the increased demand and try to make more ammo to keep up with the demand. But they have learned to do business like the Diamond Barons in South Africa and with hold product artificially to increase the demand for the product so as to RAISE THE PRICES. They make more money and don't have to work as hard. This really skews the supply and demand curve that capitalism works on.

In hundreds of posts I have seen concerning .22's, this has never been addressed! I guess the price of transportation, labor, demand, supplies on hand, plus a little greed all has to do with the final cost to us. The price of OIL has gone up more than three 100 percent so that's got to effect the price of transporting and manufacturing anything these days. So the OIL companies are party to blame for everything related to oil going up in price. It's really hurt the US and World Economy.
Hording is the result as the public has a perceived view of a shortage on anything.
While there is definitely a shortage at the retail level I think it's caused by people demanding and using more ammo. 22LR being the entry level ammo for first time (especially young or small stature type shooters). So it would make sense that if there is a sudden increase in gun sales to new shooters that the 22 LR guns would be sold to them and that the number or new 22 LR shooters would put pressure on the supply and demand curve.
Why does the space bar key on my keyboard not work on this web site? There is something wrong with the way this web sites comments thing works. The formatting is not working property or as I'm used to in other comment sections. I noticed this only after I try to use the space bar to make a double space after the end of a sentence's period. Well now it's working right? Hummn. This is really strange. Earlier I could not get the cursor to advance two space past any period at the end of a sentence. Now it's not doing that anymore? See this is what I should be able to do. But this is what was happening before. Note the single space between the period and the "B" in the word But above. There is some thing different in the formatting default on this site I guess. But I used the mouse to move the cursor around at the top of this post and hovered the cursor over each of the formatting icons above. Maybe that is why it's working right now? I don't remember clicking on any of the formatting icons at the top of the page but maybe I did or maybe just hovering over one of those formatting icons changed the way the formatting works on this post. Any one else notice this problem when they try to post in here?

I believe this shortage of all shooting material like ammo, reloading supplies, & even some firearms; goes a bit deeper than panic buying. With the belief that this all started around 2009, I have reason to believe that the some faction, in our Government, along with those individuals who oppose gun ownership & hunting; are trying to discourage Hunters & Gun Owners, by passing mindless rules & placing undue pressure on manufactures of firearms & ammunition as well as regular stores that sell these items needed to carry on sport hunting and gun ownership. All this makes finding many shooting related items very hard to locate. ~ My $0.02 worth~
