I don't know, old myths die hard.

"Indiana ... straight-walled cartridges ..."
Why doesn't anyone ever bother to actually check the regs before writing articles? Google is your friend.

I wouldn't be surprised, as rifles become more and more common, to see the sabot slugs go before the foster slugs for one single reason.......price. For anyone hunting deer this year with a 20 gauge smoothie for "in your face, up close and extremely fun deer hunting"....Midway has WW foster slugs on sale for $3.58 a box. (plus shipping) Probably end up not much less than Wally World over the counter prices but......just saying. www.midwayusa.com/product/2900162800/winchester-super-x-ammunition-20-gauge-2-3-4-3-4-oz-rifled-slug?cm_vc=ProductFindingNOT a long range, by any means, round but not everyone has the need nor desire to shoot them long range. (Every year anyway) Around here, a week before firearm season, the foster slugs are GONE, sold out. This would indicate the sabot slug has yet to replace the old standby slugs so IMHO, they would be the first to get priced out of the market. God Bless PS....I think I'm going to load my own though.

The number of users will be less when Indiana legalizes all rifle cartridges.

Thinking over the 10+ years I have hunted here in Indiana with a shotgun, I have shot a bunch of deer with my Marlin 512 with various sabot slugs. But MOST of them I could have shot easily with my Mossberg 500 and rifled slugs with open sights. It is very reliable out to 75 yds.
Even now with the 358 Hoosier, I still seem to hunt spots where all shots are 100 yds or less.

I quit using sabot slugs, sold my rifled barrels and bought smoothbores and foresters again. Why? Price. It cost a fortune for me and my wife to shoot our guns before hunting season each year and I did not see all the great benefits that are advertised. It was getting to where a deer was getting to be expensive meat, even processing it myself.
Now with PCR's my slug barrels have not seen the light of day for a few years.
