Well we made it thru a Tornado Warning and high winds here tonight (11:30pm CDT) in Rolling Prairie, between LaPorte and South Bend. Unfortunately we are running off our generator that sees it's fair share of use with summer storms. Reports from the scanner are lots of wind damage to trees and power lines. Oh boy. I'll check back in the morning to see if anybody else was under the gun.

It's been a fairly dry June down where I live, in Kentucky. We've received good rains this past week, but no severe weather.

Steve, my bud is on 5th rd, and he said the estimated time for power back on is Sat 6pm. Not good! He is on a small generator, but can't run ac or 4" well with other big loads, 3 deep freezers and 2 upright fridges. His inlaws are out also on 31 and Roosevelt rd. Our power was back on when we got up this morning, with no major damage locally. But my folks and grandparents are both out still, and neither has a report yet on when it's coming back. Not good. We cleaned out their food already and got some on ice in coolers, but it will likely have to come to our house, given away, or pitched if it goes on too long. Just wonderful.

God bless We're still fairly dry here in Ky, receiving only 0.01" of rainfall, Tuesday evening. No huge storms here. Received ample rains in May but it's DRY here now, so send some of that rain down here.

I'm just south of Plymouth 8 miles. I have a grungy old upright freezer in the garage that runs ok, just uh...well it's my "deer cooler" so a little icky in spots till I get the drive to bleach it to death but anyway, if anyone has meat they need kept frozen it is free to use if you want to transport the meat. Another option, if family with power has room is do a 2 week ( I think that is the minimum??) freezer rental at Rent-s-center. I used to rent them for gun season for my shop. They deliver and come get them too. ALWAYS A PLUS. It's been awhile so make sure there is no huge penalties if you don't keep them till paid off but there wasn't before when I used them. I'd hate to see anyone loose ANY meat. At today's prices? ee--gad! PM me your number if you need to use my ol beater for awhile. God Bless

We had a good storm burst about an hour ago. I was in the garage working with both garage doors up when a lightning strike hit right across the road. It had me high stepping in place. That is the closest I've ever been to a strike. It was incredibly loud.

Late to the party, but I lucked out. Places got hammered 2 miles South of me, and about 5 miles North of me. I have 5/8" of rain, 10 miles South had 4". Lost power for about 5 minutes max.

Same here, east and west got it but we lucked out. Inch and a half rain for us in two separate combined rains. We are usually the ones to suffer, at least concerning long term power outages. Same thing for some people we talked to near Kingsford Heights. North and south of them got clobbered, they were fine. Luck of the draw I guess. My folks and grandparents ended up tossing most of the things they had in their freezers. We took in their meats, but left everything else to be recycled. Kind of an unexpected but necessary cycle of cleaning out the old junk and defrosting at the same time. Such is life. Jay

Down here in Central Kentucky; we're are in a moderate drought. They are predicting a 70% chance for rain Tuesday afternoon, but I don't know if it will happen. Last week we had a decent chance for much needed rain (80%) but never got a drop. I am Starting to become concerned with wildfires, from careless idiots, even some EHD outbreaks in Central Ky.

A friend sent me this link. Interesting if you haven't seen it. The one in Hamlet looks like it would have whacked me if it would have stayed on the ground for a few more miles, or been durn close........... www.crh.noaa.gov/iwx/?n=july1st2014_severe
