Awesome! Isn't it great to finally get your hands on the finished product? Looks good there on that brick!

Met, I know that I was more excited to get the mount than when I first shot him. I must have been in shock when I shot him; I had no emotion at all. I've been giddy all day.
This makes me ready to go at it again.

Looks great! "Ella" even let you hang it in the house... That is the forever reminder of the hunt and recovery (where we were all pulling for you) .... Look at it, close your eyes and you will magically be transferred back in time to the sights, sound and smells of that fateful day. Hunting is about making memories...on that day you and High Cotton Guide shared it with us.. Great memory for sure.. Enjoy your well earned trophy memory...

Everyone responds differently at the moment of truth. For me, it's such a flood of different emotions and thoughts, some diametrically opposed, that I can't even sort it all out. I usually have to sit there and process and compartmentalize everything for 15 minutes before I can think straight.
Nothing beats going to the taxidermist to pick one up though. I bet you'll look at him a thousand times in the next few days. I still go into my man cave a few times a week just to pay them a courtesy call.

"Ella" even let you hang it in the house... LOL, Only because she loves me. It is fun to relive it. From the moment I saw him to seeing the arrow sticking out the opposite side was just a matter of seconds, but will provide a lifetime of memories. Thanks Woody!

Looks nice Jon! The whole process starting with you joining the site and learning from the members here through the kill and recovery was just a really cool experience!

This mount was not how he was looking that night. He was standing up straight. I thought his ears where up too, but I never looked directly at his head as I was focused on where to shoot. My office has a low ceiling, so I got a mount that wasn't as high. I think next time, I'll try to get the mount as I remember. This mount doesn't look like he's alert at all as if he were taking a leisurely stroll ...I'm not sure bucks ever do that. LOL
Thanks guys! I hope you enjoyed the excitement even a fraction as much as I did.

That looks to be a semi-sneak pose.
Like he was trying to sneak on by you..

I agree Woody and it is my favorite of the pre-formed mount styles.
A FINE JOB on a VERY fine buck!
God Bless

That is the newer full sneak form it is used for low ceilings. Jon did you not tell your taxidermist how you wanted it done? Congrats on a very nice first deer!

He had me visit his shop and look at what I wanted. I told him my situation and he recommended a couple choices. He's fairly new at this, maybe 5 years. It wouldn't have mattered how it looked; I would have felt the same way about it. His name is Allyn Rankin in Mooresville.

That is an awesome mount. I think about that day a lot! I'll never forget the excitement in your voice...pretty cool! That's a great buck in anyboys book. I sit here now looking at my 1st "buck mount"...a 3 point rack on a plaque that serves as my hat hanger (he only had 1 side) from many moons ago! It was just as cool to form a new friendship that day, Brother Jon!!!

I could be wrong but it looks to be placed over a mantel. My taxi guy always tells me no matter what I bring in that I am not to put it over the fireplace. He says the soot and smoke will ruin it very quickly. In any case I hope you hung it where you want it and it stays in great shape for a long long time. He looks great and gets me excited for the up-coming season, way to go Jon!

It rarely gets used; we usually use the one in the great room. This is good to know though. Thanks!
