I am an idiot. Noticed last year the fire sights on my 870 were getting blurry so I put a low power scope on it for this season. After the rain moved out we had birds this morning including a beast of a Tom fly by off to the left of us. Anyways had 3 Jakes come in and at 40 yds I decided to take one. Boom, 3 birds take off, what? And suddenly it dawns on me; I sighted it in with slugs but forgot to screw in the turkey choke and check the pattern. (And I did plan on doing that) Just checked it, yep; way off. Did it mention I'm an idiot

Better luck next time.....

I flew to Florida one year without a choke tube and didn't notice until about 30 minutes before first light.
Had removed my choke to polish my barrel before going and left it on the workbench

TY I was off the road taking care of the morning business when my buddy from down there got my gun out of his truck. I'll never forget hearing him say, "buddy, you're not going to be happy!" I just used his gun to kill a bird. I'll find the thread on polishing the barrel off another site and send it to you.

I believe someone posted it a couple of weeks ago also. I used to do it with #0000 steel wool, but the scotch brite is MUCH cleaner. I only use some cleaner now that I went through the whole process a couple of years ago. If you do it, and I realize you shoot those high dollar fancy shells , you really need to pattern it before and after. I think you will be surprised. Either surprised it patterns so much better or surprised you just wasted $20 in shells.
