I mentioned in my post yesterday that it was dad's turn to shoot. He didn't know if he had to work this morning but he found out he was off around 7:30 this morning so we decided to go sit in the blind. At 10:30 we saw 2 hens pop out but no gobbler. We waited and never heard or saw a gobbler. A few purs and yelps later we heard this guy down in the woods about 100 yards. Gave a few more calls and shut up. His next gobble was 50 yards away and was about to step into the field. Dad got ready and I told him "here he comes!" He didn't see the decoy so I yelped and he turned and saw the decoy. He strutted in to 45 yards and Dad dropped him in his tracks. 22.5 lbs. 9 1/2 in beard and one inch spurs. It was awesome to see his reaction after being patient for me to kill one. He's the best hunting partner I could have.

Haha. I wouldn't call me a guide. In the years past we've been left frustrated as we tried to chase them and get set up. This year patience was key as we both squeezed into a one man blind with lawn chairs and just sat still. THe field they funnel into doesn't get good until late morning/ early afternoon. And it sure paid off these last two days. Thanks everyone for he good things you've said. We are both very pleased.
