Wednesday made for a nice quick season. Very cold, 30deg and frost. Zero gobbles from the roost or after flydown. Started out having some birds skirting a ridge about 200yds away and I kept calling to get their attention. A hen turned and came to my decoys, fed to within 5yd of the blind for about 10min. A loud prop plane came by and she scooted off. Then about 8:30 another hen came strolling by. I thought to myself, "live bait always catches the fish", so hopefully a tom would follow, and sure enough 5min later, here he came. He was on a beeline to her but turning to watch my setup cautiously. I was trying to cluck quietly but he was intent on following her, so I kept getting louder and eventually starting yelping and he couldn't take it. He finally turned and came to within 35yd before I let him have it. The rest is history! 24lb, 10.5" beard, 25mm hooks. Thanks. Jay.

Thanks fellas. After enduring high winds the last two days, I am glad it happened quick. Would have made for very frustrating times with the blind and decoys. Good luck to everyone.
