My Thai Cafe in Bloomington. The drunken man fried rice is outstanding. Goosepond Pizza in Linton. For my money it is the best pizza around. Wee Willie's in Ellettsville. The place is nothing fancy, but their burger is pretty darn good. I gotta disagree with you.... The pizza in southern indiana is absolutely horrible. tomato sauce and cheese on a cracker is NOT good pizza. Though, I might just be spoiled having lived in buffalo, ny for many years. While some places around the country have certain "signature" foods that are awesome, i've never been anywhere else that has the all around great food that buffalo has. *edit*-- i work in linton and have eaten at (i think) every restaurant in town. Goosepond isnt even the best of the worst in town... Sidenote.... have you tried the new asian buffet place that just opened? (i think across from subway?) any good?

Speaking of which...I had the opportunity to chow down at Anchor Bar in Buffalo NY quite a few times in the past few years. Suicidal wings...well let's just say some pretty crazy eats!

Dang. I feel like an alien. LOL! I've never heard of half the towns mentioned let alone the places to eat!
El Camino Real in Plymouth (north side of town on Michigan street) is one of my favs. Porterhouse, shrimp, refried beans, rice, tortilla (I forget the name of it) 15 bucks. KILLER margaritas.
and when they have the "special" of "Frog legs and Filet" (not often but IS TO DIE FOR!), The Loghouse restaurant right on four lane HW 31 about 25 miles south of South Bend, West side, right outside Argos.
The former is where the family goes for family outings, birthdays and such and the later is too close to my home for me to not go there when flush. GOOD breakfast combos daily, reasonably priced.
For Oriental, Dragon Express in Plymouth near Kroger is awesome food wise, but carry out only.
For Pizza. Main Street Pizza in Bourbon, IN. ( I know, no one else has heard of Argos or Bourbon. LOL. I grew up here). A couple young people run this, super kids (40s, lol) and Ive known the wife of the pair since she was in diapers. Good people, good food, fair prices.
Here in BFE, IN, we don't have lots of options other than the big chains but there are those in Plymouth of course since 30 and 31 bisect there.
I know, I need to get out more. :-)
God Bless

Steve, BFE is the place to be! Argos and Bourbon are the big bro and sis of Rolling Prairie! Haha. My bud lives on 5th Rd west of 31 so I am familiar with Plymouth. The El Camino Real is awesome. Have you ever tried Milas in Plymouth? Very authentic Mexican joint. We have been to the Loghouse a few times, pretty good. Lot's good places around.

If the food here is so terrible you could always go back to Buffalo.

Wick's in New Albany has a 16" pie called "The Big Wick" that takes several very hungry grown men to eat, and it's fantastic. Rocky's in Jeffersonville has an impressive bill of fare in general, and some outstanding pizza. There's even better on the Louisville side, you must be eating at some dives to generalize a whole region that way.

The pizza at New Bethel Ordinary is pretty special...and just a short 5 minute drive from my house. Had some business with him and he had a pizza brought to my office omg one slice was a meal been a fan since The first time I ever had a New Bethel Ordinary pizza we had it delivered. When the guy handed me the box, I almost dropped it because it was so shockingly heavy! We got a large and I'll guarantee it weighed 10 lbs or more. We ate on that thing for 3 days! I can eat a lot of pizza and 2 slices from the Ordinary is my limit! For those unfamiliar, the New Bethel Ordinary is located in Wanamaker (southeastern Marion County)

The pizza at New Bethel Ordinary is pretty special...and just a short 5 minute drive from my house. Been to the NBO a couple times and it is the thickest, heaviest pizza I've ever seen. I wanted to eat more than 2 slices but my stomach said no. I wish it was 5 minutes from my house (2 hours for me).
I don't know why but I've really been craving a plate of chicken livers, mashed potatoes/gravy, corn and a slice of lemon meringue pie from Grey Brothers in Mooresville. Haven't been there in a few years. I'm due.
I know it's a chain but not really local; the burger I had at Fuddruckers in Janesville, WI was pretty good.
The best seafood I've ever had was at a place in the western part of North Carolina (yes the mountain side, not the coast). At the time I had family that lived in Banner Elk. I was probably 12 the last time I was there but I will never forget how good that seafood was.
