I finally got everything rounded up to finish my Noveske rifle today. I'm hoping I can get a break in the weather and get it sighted in soon.

Thanks, Woody. I was hoping to have a PVS-14 (Gen 3 nightvision optic) as well by now, but lay-offs at work caused me to have to dip into my optic funds to keep the household bills paid. I had all the funds to buy one set aside until all of this freaky winter weather hit.

Nice looking MSR and good picture too. Its' hard to take a good picture and get the back ground just right.
I'm almost finished decking out my new AR15. I still need to add a flash hider to the end of the barrel. I have the Flash Hider and the barrel is already threaded to 1/2" and 28 tpi and all I need now is the tool to hook into the Advanced Armament Corp Blackout Flash Hider. I have the model 51T and once I get it torqued onto the end of the barrel I'll be good to go. I just need to buy a $35 armorer's tool to connect the flash hider to tool, so that I can use my Torque Wrench on the tool to properly install the flash hider. I guess I could use a crescent wrench to do this job but I want to make sure that I apply the correct amount of torque and don't screw the install up. My Torque wrench is a 1/2" drive I think but I can adapt that down to 3/8" easily. It might be only 3/8" drive. I'll have to double check that. I was looking at the torque wrench the other day while I was out in the garage but it was way too cold out there to stick around and I headed back into the warm house. I'll check on it later when I'm dressed warmer and have shoes and shocks on. I was out there putting a couple of screw drivers back into the tool box and was only wearing shorts and my flip flops. I just was glad that I didn't shut the door to the garage and lock myself out there in the garage. LOL. I have nigh mares about doing that someday. ha ha. I was only out in the garage for about 40 seconds and froze my butt off in that short time. I wish that spring was here instead of this damn freezing weather. This type of weather is only good for the Waterfowl Hunters.

Nice scope ring holder. Who made that one?
That looks like a Nikon Scope. Is that one of the M-223 Nikon's ? What reticle did you get?
And what is that box thing that's holding the rifle in place? That's cool looking.
I took a picture of my Ambush Firearms AR15 while I had it mounted on the Caldwell Magnum DeadShot FieldPod in the living room but I didn't like the way the photos came out. I was using my GPS camera which is only 5mb and not really that adjustable. And I didn't like the background with the couch and wall paper colors. My X wife put that wall paper up in the living room when we bought this house years ago and I never did like it much. The background in the pictures took too much away from the rifle itself. I need to get a better background that more neutral. Something like green grass or something like that.
I just got a thought. I can mount the AR15 in my Tipton Best Gun Vise cleaning/maintenance stand and use the Wheeler Engineering AR15 Mag Well Vise Block to hold the AR15 up for the photograph. Not sure how else to present the AR15 for a good picture as I don't have a Bi-Pod to help stand it up on the ground like I see in many other pictures of guy's AR15's.

I had all the funds to buy one set aside until all of this freaky winter weather hit. I see where Planet Optics has that one for sale for under $3K. That's a decent price for NV optics. The other ones I saw on the EOTECH Web site were in the $14 to 27 K range. Much more expensive. But I think some of those were Thermal Optics seeing in IR. Gander Mountain has some Gen 1 NV stuff from ATN for about $500 but I've read that Gen1 is a waste of time and money according to some people. While the Gen1 might work for some I'm much rather have the Gen 3 stuff IF I could afford it. I've already spent way too much money on this AR 15 stuff in the last few months. Someone said that AR15 are like Barbies for Boys. Well I'm not sure about that but they sure can be tricked out a lot of different ways and are fun to play with.

M4, would you mind listing the details of the build? I want to put one together to do the same thing - 'yotes.
I want to keep it as light as possible without going crazy. No plastic lower for me tho.
Shots 400 yds and closer is what I'm thinking, even tho the area is large open fields.
My biggest "what to get" centers around the barrel, trigger and buttstock to get a good cheek weld. On my other guns I usually have to have an adjustable cheekpiece to get my face high enough. I'm interested in the scope, base and rings too.

M4, would you mind listing the details of the build? I want to put one together to do the same thing - 'yotes. I want to keep it as light as possible without going crazy. No plastic lower for me tho. I've got $2200 in this rifle, not counting the suppressor (which added another $700). So, for anyone reading, you can get by much cheaper than that in an AR-15. esshup, the lower half is a Noveske Gen 2 lower receiver, CMT parts kit, Geissele SSA-E 3.5# 2-stage trigger, Magpul stock and grip. Upper is a Noveske Rogue Hunter with 16" stainless barrel chambered in 5.56. Sound suppressor is a SRT Arms Hurricane. The scope is a Nikon P223 mounted in a LaRue LT-104 mount, and has a 600-yard BDC reticle in 50-yard increments. The upper is extremely light, weighing something like 4 pounds. I took my LaRue Tactical OBR 7.62 out a couple of times trying to get a coyote, and at 15+ pounds it was no fun, so I sold it to build this as well as pick up a PVS-14.

Sighted it in this afternoon and went hunting. Within 5 minutes of my first set, I killed this nice male. Since I had a suppressor, I wasn't deafened and heard a second one howling downhill out of sight immediately after the shot. I howled back, but it never showed.

Nice! Thanks for the build list. What does the completed rifle tip the scales at? I'm actually going to be putting 2 of them together. One for predators for me, one for Dad for a home defense gun. His hand strength isn't what it used to be, so he cannot rack the slide on a semi-auto handgun. Forget about a revolver, macular degeneration requires a laser or red dot. Since a laser doesn't require perfect head alignment on the stock to see, that's the route to go. Going to try to keep the weight down to as close to 6# as possible. Small broomhandle on the handguard, Carbon Fiber handguard. Combo laser/flashlight operated via pad on the stock. Ace 5 oz stock, right around 12" to 12 1/2" LOP is where he's comfortable. I don't plan on using a plastic lower (still not convinced about 'em) on his either.
I'll have to look up Noveske. What's the mount on the bottom of the handguard for?
Good shooting and nice rifle!!

esshup, I haven't weighed it, but it is pretty light. The Noveske NSR hanguard has the slimmest profile on the market. Since I'm waiting on my front sling mount to arrive, I hunted the other day without a sling. I carried the rifle in one hand by the handguard as I hiked along.
What you are seeing on the lower handguard is polymer rail cover sections. I have a handstop at both the front and rear of that section to give me a solid place to grip without my hand sliding forward or rearward while shooting. I need to pick up more flat sections so I can do the sides as well.
Good luck on both of your rifle builds!
