My dad and I were going to go to Big Oaks and hunt on Saturday. I call him Friday night and tell him I would rather hunt the farm then have to mess with Big Oaks the next day. So I pick him up and we head to the farm. I usually hunt the left side where it's pretty thick but I haven't seen a lot of deer sign like I normally do. I decide to hunt the middle ridge where no one has hunted this year. We get there plenty early and get up in my tree with probably 30 minutes until it gets light. About 8:15a I have a small fork horn buck walking around me for about 10 minutes. He starts to walk away so I decide to play around with him and hit the grunt call lightly and he comes back. I stop and he starts to walk away again and I hit the grunt call louder this time and he stops, looks around then just takes off out of there like his tail is on fire and I laugh. About 9:15 am I hear something coming down the ridge off to my right. I grab my bow and here comes a buck with his nose to the ground hauling butt. I have about 10 seconds to make a decision to shoot and I pull back and I do a whistle and he stops perfect broad side and I smoked him, pass thru shot. He runs about 75 yards and then attempts to turn and go up hill. He makes it about 2 yards then I see him do a backflip down the ridge and ends up in the creek which has about a foot of water in it. I yell at my dad on the walkie talkie that I got a buck down and he is excited. I wait about 45 mins for him to get out of his tree stand and make his way over to me. By that time I'm getting down and we find the arrow and walk over to him. My dad walks over to me and gives me a big hug and says awesome shot and I just love this. Being here sharing this hunt with you. I hug him back and said thanks for being here with me and I love ya Dad..
I glance the deer over and he is a hoss, he weighed in at 190 lbs field dressed. He had two tines broke off as well. Not a huge rack but my biggest bow kill to date.
