It happened last tues. Went to my buddy, the vet's office and he showed me a pic he had just taken of two bucks, locked up on an island, in his pond, back on the farm. I told him if he wanted any help getting them loose over lunch, let me know. Doc called me and said be at the pond at noon. Got there, and Doc's son and his buddy were there, also. The bucks were still on the island locked up. One was dead, but the other one was very much alive, thrashing around. I looked at the small john boat and said there didn't need to be three of us in that little boat wrestling around with a live buck! Turned out to be a good decision on my part! Here is a link to the video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Lm8Pll3CTcIt was the most inspiring thing I've ever seen in all my years in the outdoors. While I didn't help, I got to witness it, and was very proud! In all our collective years of deer hunting, none of us had ever seen anything like it! Enjoy the video. maddog

Crazy stuff right there. Saw last year where the guys actually took a gun and shot the rack of the dead deer releasing the other. Am thinking the gun idea is a safer way to do this than a saw saw or sledge hammer, but in the end it had a happy ending. Nice work guy's.

We had a gun, but were only going to use it as a last resort.

that video won't make the news. "HUNTERS SAVE DEER" it make hunters look good and no one wants that. Put a bad shot on one and it makes the local tv news.

A lot of these videos I see, the deer end up in water. What's that all about? I've noticed that too. My guess is that the live buck can drag the other one downhill, but struggles getting back back up the hill away from the stream, pond, etc.

Well, in this case, both deer were on a very small island in a pond. When the boys got close, the buck hauled the dead one into the water.

So when I have seen these videos, I wonder with the extreme stress, will the buck survive later on?
Always glad to see one run off regardless.
