Well not much of a story. I hadn't been out deer hunting yet this year due to turkey an duck hunting. The ducks are getting stale an I had the day off an the time was right with the cold front moving in so I went out for a spell this evening. I got out to my spot about 4 pm an was headed to the truck at 4:45 with the first deer I seen while hunting this year. You all know the sayin don't pass on a deer you would shoot on the last day, on the first day. He came off my left shoulder out of a bedding area, an heading to a unpicked corn field, he stopped an started eating on some acorns, I stood up ranged him, an let the arrow fly. I Had a short an sweet hunt. An I Thank the good Lord above. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

WAAAAAAAAA! I'm so glad that you posted it. Man, I'd sure like to get one like that some day. Hey, that was a good idea to let some handsome fella hold your deer for you while you took the photo. :-)))
Congratulations Nate!

Very nice; you're going to have to teach me how to do that. I've taken deer the first hour of gun season, but not the first time out during bow season. Congratulations.

For sure, that is a dandy buck! Hoping to SEE one like that this year, even if I can't get a shot.
Gotta love seeing them do their thing!
God Bless

Pro staff material right there! Think about how much money they would save on 30 - 45 minute hunts? Just turn on the camera and viola - 30 minutes later they have a show ready for TV..no editing necessary. That had to be a WHOA moment!!

Thats a dandy... You must have the honey hole. 45 mins in the stand and all I see is squirrels and trees growing. Job well done

I've thought a little about this deer hunting sport. You know for a few weeks, I just sat and didn't see a thing until I got desperate and started shooting squirrels. I think this experience made me appreciate the buck that I did get. It is not easy to sit for days without success. A lot of guys go through this for years, before they get their trophy. It's not easy, but I think this is what makes it so great.
I'm soooooo happy for you Nate! ...and really happy that you shared it with us.

Wow. Super nice buck. Congratulations. I was blessed with a short hunt a few years ago. Climbed into my stand, looked at my watch and it was 3:05PM, turned around after setting the seat, lit a cig, and heard a noise beside me to the left. Looked and saw it was a buck walking out of the thicket less than 25 yards away. Put the cig out to my right, pulled out my pistol, and turned to my left. Shot him. Been in the stand less than 2 min. Big 10 pt. right at 140 class. I think he heard the climber going up the tree and came to investigate? Unreal.
