Spoke with 3 different guy's at golf league last night that have all found several dead buck's within last week. 5 bear Branch area, 4 East Enterprise area and 2 Quercus Grove area. (all were found in or near water source's) so EHD is suspected. Probably won't know how widespread it is untill hunter's hit wood's for youth season. From pic's I saw most were 130" plus deer. For whatever reason mature buck's seem to get hit with it first. Not sure why?

Ehd has hit Ohio, Switzerland and Dearborn Counties hard this year. Driving down 56 with my windows down on Monday and you can smell dead deer. Around my house its bad, especially down by the creek. Hunters will be surprised how bad it is when bow season comes in.
I found a 9pt dead Sunday while trimming some shooting lanes on my property in Ohio Co. A friend just posted pics on facebook of a buck swimming circles in the Arnolds creek yesterday.

I saw in an email I got from DNR that EHD has been reported in 15 counties this year. While unfortunate, it's still better than the 63(?) counties where it was reported last year.

There are still plenty of deer here. I drove from my house to Patriot last night. (8 miles) and counted over 80 deer!!!!! So EHD hasn't killed them all. This is the first year in 10 that I will try to harvest 8 doe's off my farm. (They are just everywhere.) I am seeing a minimum of 30 to as many as 60 in a 5 acre alfalfa field i have every dang night. I have 150 acre's and our goal is shoot 15 doe's and no more than 3 buck's (3.5 old's or older) this season. A normal year we shot 6-8 doe's and 2 buck's, but we are just seeing way to many doe's.

Mature bucks have a lot of blood vessel packed, velvet on their racks(obviously not as many deer now) but when it's there they can't swat or hit with their hooves to "shoo" the gnats away due to it being what I'm assuming is a very sensitive area on the bucks. Have to image that velvet bucks are easy pickings for the gnats. Bigger the rack the more velvet to access.

Found 2 dead buck's on my property last night on a short walk. Gonna get out this evening to see how bad it is. I'm seeing all kind's of buzzard's around which isn't a very good sign. Think it may be pretty bad, even though i'm seeing alot of deer.

I haven't seen any dead, or heard report of any here in clay county so far. I will go look tomorrow while retrieving my SD card.....sure hope not, normally when I have found them in the past they have been floating in my pond.

Rained very little yesterday for about 2hrs. Just enough to get the ground wet. Checked the creek, still not running. Ground soaked it right in. Supposed to get 2.5 inches tonight, believe it when I see it.

My rain gauge indicated we got 2.2 inches yesterday. The creek behind my house was actually flowing, and it is raining again now.

Only got 1/2" here, creeks didn't budge, and the ground didn't even get muddy. BTW.....36fan is from West central Indiana, not S.E.

I can hardly wait to see the food plot we put in two weeks ago. It rained some the afternoon we put it in and a couple times since then.

We had a nice light rain here this afternoon, just not much volume. If it would rain like this continuously for three or four days things would be great.
