Some years back I bought some hybrid channels and was told they wouldn't reproduce. Wrong was he. I had a serious population problem for while.

If they reproduced, then they were wrong about them being hybrids, that's for sure.

Whats a blue channel? And whats a Hybred Channel?? A blue channel is a larger species of channel en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_catfish and a hybrid is a cross breeding of a regular channel and a blue channel.

Whats a blue channel? And whats a Hybred Channel?? , never heard of them.... hybred fish are usually just 90%+ males so you don't get much reproduction but there is some. Not sure about the cats as I have never heard of those.

Not sure about the cats as I have never heard of those. This is news to me. I was always under the impression that hybrid animals could not reproduce. So, some can?

The hatchery by me says the same thing. I had got some hybrid bluegills which he said were 90% males. The offspring from the ones that did reproduce look like a funky muted bluegills. These occured about 5-6 years after the initial stocking.

Just a word of caution to you guys. If Arkansas Pond Stockers are correct in saying that they are selling Coppernose Bluegills, I wouldn't stock them in any ponds in Indiana. If they are CNBG, they will NOT survive the winters in ponds that ice over. They are native to Florida and don't like cold water.
Blues in ponds will eat more of the smaller fish than Largemouths once they get over 18" in length. They can get large enough to eat 2# Largemouth. I'm not saying not to stock them, just wanted you to be aware of what you are stocking.....

They were about 3" long when I bought them and I caught 1 Saturday that was about a foot long,so they're coming along . Here's my lone albino getting a bite to eat. There was also a carp a little bigger than him up eating too along with a bunch of bluegill. I'm cleaning a bunch of them out,WAY too many of them.
