Not sure I understand exactly what you are asking? I use a digital caliper to check dimensions on cartridges.

Barnes recommends seating their bullets a little farther off the lands than is the usual reloading practice. Maybe someone that has this caliber in this brand of barrel could send you a Dummy round with the bullet seated to the proper length. Do you have the 1.625 version or the 1.8 version?

Easy way to do OAL is to size a case, use a dremel with a cut off blade and cut a slot in the neck of the case, cut down into the shoulder just a bit, push the bullet into the case just enough to hold it, put case into chamber and close up the gun, make sure the ejector is not hooked up or be careful when you open the gun so it doesnt eject the case, use a cleaning rod with out the jag and push out the case using the bullet nose, measure the OAL with a set of calipers, do this 10 times and you should a number that comes up regular and that is your OAL to the lands. With Barnes bullets I'd back it up 0.50 and test. h.h.
PS make sure you reset the bullet each time so the lands push the bullet back into the case. The bullet should be just snug enough that you can move it back and forth with your fingers.

Just be sure that the cartridge is removed carefully so the bullet is not moved. The bullet will move very easily with the slot cut in the neck and shoulder of the brass case.
