I was wondering what size bullet to use. I am thinking about the 200 gr. TTSX but was wondering how the 180 gr bullets have been working. Im shooting it out of a mgm encore barrel. Im new to this round so was just looking for a little more info on these bullets.

Either one will kill the biggest deer grave yard dead. I shoot the 200 gr. TTSX and have killed deer at ranges from 30 yards to 275 yards and get excellent performance. Straight line penetration no matter what kind of bone hit and quarter to 50 cent sized exits. Have never recovered a bullet even on quartering to or straight on shots.

I used the 200 TTSX for the first time this year. Hit through both shoulders at 136 yards. Dropped in its tracks. I was amazed at the lack of meat damage, although the lungs were jelly. Maybe not having lead splash/fragment was what kept the meat damage down. We had a roast on the impact side that has a nickle-sized hole through it and the bullet path was the only meat lost. Pretty much looked the same on the exit-side shoulder, but it was in the part that we grind for burger. However, the bullet hit ribs on both sides and the holes in the chest cavity were about 2 inches across.

Price-wise, not much. Ballistically, also not much. Slight edge to the 358 WSSM in velocity. Ease of creating a loaded round, definitely goes to the 358 Hoosier.

I shot this doe a few years back with a 358wssm and a 220grain sierra. The exit hole was 9" accross. Granted this is rare, most of my deer I shoot throught he lungs and get a quarter to golf ball size hole. I have never recoved a bullet from this gun. Seems to shoot through anything. This is one BAD ROUND!

Ease of loading definitely goes to the Hoosier but the wssm is faster, not nuch though. I also shoot a MGM in Encore.

I think the difficulty of creating a loaded round in either the WSSM or Hoosier lies in making the case. Otherwise, the loading portion is the same. Is it really any more difficult to make one case versus the other?

The Hoosier is a bunch of steps easier. Plus, brass is much cheaper to srart with. Price of components is the same.

You can make the Hoosier brass from a .308 case, tons of it out there.

Said that he has check several online stores and they are sold out. I checked several to see and he is right. Hard time finding bullets also. On this Hoosier cartridge does RCBS make forming dies?? Sounds like a neat cartridge!!

No doubt dealer stock is very low. BUT most all of the items are still available it's just that when a shipment comes in, it's already sold and out the door the same day. Everything you need is still being made, but you may have to wait 3-6 weeks to get your hands on it.

Driving back from Tampa today and stopped at a gun shop that advertised 1000's of guns in stock. Lots of guns but very little ammo.
Bass Pro on the east side of Atlanta.....same thing.
