That ought to be a good scope. I buy all Burriss scopes and put them on my guns. I use the 6.5x20x50. I would definitely go with the 50mm, you will love it. Good choice on a caliber. They are awesome.

Can't comment on that one. I run Burris optics as well. Check out the full field II line. Should be in your price range.

A couple of things to consider regarding 50mm objective on a hunting rifle. First, more glass equals more weight. Enough said. Second, the scope must be mounted higher on the rifle to make clearance between the objective bell and the barrel. This can mean your head position on the stock is a little odd. Also, the rifle "cant" has a larger effect on point of impact shift. The greater the distance between the center line of the scope and the center line of the bore, the greater this effect. On the bench, this is maybe not such a concern. But I'm sure you know that in the field is quite another story.

I am using a Leupold VX-III 4.5x14x40 B&C crosshairs with excellent results.

My 270wsm wears that scope; one of my favorites.

My Savage Model 16 in 358BFG has a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40mm. I think this is plenty of magnification and light gathering for deer hunting in Indiana.

ive been doing some more looking and im thinking about going with a nikon monarch but i cant decide which one to go with. I was thinking about either the 3-12 x 42 with side focus or 4-16 x 42 with side focus. Which one would be the best to put on the .358 wssm. Also i was thinking about either the DNZ mounts or the Lepuold dove tail mounts. Any input?

I have a Nikon Monarch in 8-32x50 that I use for long range shooting with a 308 and I have trouble with it once in a while not taking the windage and elevation adjustments. I have to make the adjustment and then tap the turret to get it to take. It is a lot more optics than needed for deer hunting. I expect that most hunters would hold over or under more than use the elevation adjustments for deer in Indiana, but I just thought I would mention it from a quality standpoint. It makes me wonder if all of the Monarch scopes could have issues.
It is a shame because I love the glass and reticle!

A Zeiss Conquest with the Rapid Z reticle is hard to beat.
