This is from a article primarily about the NRA, but it contained a statement from Fienstien. The "Detachable magazine" part got my attention. Pretty broadbrush. Now some of you idiots reading this have probably been thinking any ban wouldn't bother you. WAKE UP. (sorry, I just talked with two hunters who think a ban is a good idea. I have to assume a few reading this are just as dull.) "I have been working with my staff for over a year on this legislation," Feinstein said in a statement issued Monday. "It will be carefully focused on the most dangerous guns ... while protecting the rights of gun owners." Feinstein said her legislation will outlaw the sale, import and manufacture of more than 100 different firearms, including "semiautomatic rifles, handguns and shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than ten rounds." The measure would also ban the sale, import and manufacture of "large-capacity ammunition feeding devices (magazines, strips and drums) capable of accepting more than ten rounds." That is a very broad brush.
Assuming that language actually makes it into the bill it would effect every single semi automatic pistol made and a truck load of semi automatic rifles. Everything from the beloved Ruger 10/22 to the Barrett 82A1.

Everything from the beloved Ruger 10/22 to the Barrett 82A1. I tried to explain to a co-worker that "assault weapon" is a BS media term that only means what is specified in a bill. I said, "If a 10-22 has an 11 round magazine it's an assault weapon." This guy, and another hunter standing nearby, laughed and said, "No way, they'll never ban those...they're just after big mags and "assault weapons." WAKE UP!

The worst part about what Feinstien wants is she wants to ban ownership, not sales or manufactor of such. That means line up and turn them or face being a felon at some point in the future.

Wouldn't the 10/22 also fit the description even with the standard ten-round magazine, since it is detachable?
Incredibly stupid legislation in any case. The Newtown massacre could have been accomplished with a couple of ball and cap civil war revolvers and a few extra cylinders, and could have been much worse if pipe bombs and Molotov cocktails had been the weapons of choice.
It may not be the "only" way to stop an active shooter or other homicidal/suicidal maniac, but the most effective and likely way is to arm someone who will be in he school anyway, and preferably several people who will be in their civilian clothes rather than an officer who would be the obvious first target.
The worst part of this attempt to push gun control as an effective deterrent to more such atrocities is the fact that they will be almost completely unaffected by it even if it passes in its most severe form. And more innocent kids will die in the next one that could have been prevented by some armed "sheepdogs" among the sheep.
Throwing erasers at the shooter has been proven to be ineffective, and I'm told that most modern classrooms don't have them anyway.
Columbine happened while the assault weapons ban was in effect.
