I have an H&R Handi and sent it in a few years ago to have a 357 mag barrel fitted. They were not selling 357 max barrels at that time. I had a special reamer made with a 1 degree throat and rechambered the barrel to 357 max. Two other rifles belonging to friends were also rechambered to the Max. It makes a great little deer rifle that is light, reasonably accurate, and rivals a 35 Rem in power. My handloads with a 180 grain bullet are almost 2100 fps and with a 200 grain bullet it will easily break 2000 fps with loads comfortably below published maximums. It also shoots 190 gr cast bullets very well and those make for very econmical practice shooting. It has accounted for several deer the last few years and I would recommend it highly for a young hunter or lady hunter. The recoil is very mild. It is a great Indiana deer rifle.
