Some of you are members on Hoosier Hunting and it seems that they have kicked off another "pile on Woody" thread over there.
This is my rebutal here since I cant post there....
The original requesters of the seasons to the DNR public input session was the Indiana Sportsman's Roundtable. That is a fact as I have the input file. The DNR ran with that even though the majority of the number of responses that they got were against it. Again, I have the input file and did an analysis. The DNR can, and sometimes do, accept one piece of input from a group or an individual if they like it. That is their prerogative. No beef there.
Now that the new season proposals have been preliminarily adopted the NRC is the group now taking public input. My very reliable source said that there will be a request made to the NRC to change the season as I have stated, not as Scarlett Dew stated. I believe that he made his up.
I have never said that there was any plans by the NRC to change the dates, only that I have been told that a request will be made to them to change the dates.Big difference.
My bone of contention is NOT with the NRC/Process OR that these groups CAN ask for as a change as anyone can and that is how the process is really supposed to work. I'm cool with that as I gave my input to them on this subject and asked others to do the same.
My problem is that these folks that asked for this season will (according to my source) now ask for a change after requesting the September vertical only season so they don't have to hunt with crossbowers. If true, that tells me that this original request was not for a "season of their own", but an opportunity to try and get the pre-rut and rut all to themselves. I can see nothing else but that here.
It would be a dis-service to my members here and the crossbow hunters in this state if I did not bring this up so that they will have the opportunity to give input on such a change request. I want the NRC to see and hear both sides. Only then can they make the proper decision.
I guess whether this is "false" (it's not) report from my source will be found out when the final adoption comes up and see if the NRC got input on their site or in person at the meeting for a date change. Of course the original requesters could change their minds. I doubt it, but it is possible.
I am hoping that the NRC receives enough negative input that they will adopt the proposal as is or reject the whole thing. Again, I am NOT against the vertical archers having a "season of their own" as long as they do not displace ANY other hunter group from a portion of their own season. That was my input to the NRC.
