I looked forward to opening day of the Illinois gun deer season with great anticipation. I was in my stand opening morning and shot an 8 point buck & a big doe in the first 20 minutes. I admit I got lucky. I'm not a great hunter by any means and was happy to fill my freezer, but it was somewhat depressing to know my season was so short. Sitting in the stand and enjoying the woods has always been therapy for me. I've never filled my tag that quickly before and almost felt cheated. Anyone else ever feel that way?

Yep, know exactly what you mean. I live for the time spent in the woods watching the day begin or end, watching all god's critters go about their day and just disconnecting from the grind for a few hours. Do like I have done before and get you a AO tag and get back out there to the quality time or take a camera to the stand instead of a gun / bow and "shoot" a few deer that way.

I got a doe and buck in archery this year so I am free to run the video for the wife hoping we can catch her shooting something.

I always hope to do that and call it a season and go back to fishing.
