Some kind of craze going on right now. I stopped in at a gun store, which was closed yesterday for veterans day, looking for some 44 ammo. Their normal 30' wall stocked full of ammo in all calibers was bare!! Very little ammo left on shelves. Only 3-20 ct. boxes of 44 cal hornady custom 240 gr xtp jhp left. They had no other 44 ammo left. I bought all 3. I guess we still have right to bear arms; just not to buy ammo. One of their employees said that they are having a really hard time getting ammo. All the gun stores I've been to lately have been packed! Watched a 80 yr old woman asking about getting her ccp on Monday in another gun store. Wife was looking at gun bags for the range Monday at gander mt. She lifted up 1 bag to inspect it and reveal 3 empty boxed of ammo underneath it where someone dumped the ammo into their pockets and hid the empty boxes. Then just today a gun store in New Haven was robbed by I believe 4 guys during business hrs. 1 was shot in the face and an employee badly beaten. Police caught 3 of 4. Haven't heard all the details on this one, but gonna watch the news later. Time to Be safe, and watch ur back more than ever.

My take on this issue of an ammunition shortage is due to two things. 1- PANIC BYING & 2- Speculators hoping to score big on reselling various calibers at a very high cost.

"1- PANIC BUYING & 2- Speculators" both of those plus opening day is Saturday. I'll bet slugs are getting thin as well.

Well, nobody got shot in the face during that gun store robbery. I'm not sure where the manager of autozone got his info from but the news didn't report that only that as the robbers left they shot 1 rd back into the store. Guess the owner of the store has brain cancer on top of all this. Wow.

It could be that gun season opens in two days and people have been sighting-in their weapons all week by my house.

I noticed the Walmart is out of .44 and .357 ammo, but they had plenty of slugs. Same thing @ BassPro in Clarksville. Low on .44 and .357 but plenty of slugs. My LGS has plenty of .44, .357 but they don't seem to carry the amount of slugs they used to.

.44 mag ammo has been difficult to find for a few years, especially the Winchester white box that I shoot. I needed another box myself, called around looking for it and about the only place that had it was Cabela's over in Scarborough, ME. Fortunately, my girlfriend works just a couple of miles from the store, otherwise I would have either had to do without or make a 45 mile drive!

Remington, hornady remington and some others. I had heard there are some government contracts up this year and to get one you have to have a large stock to hand over when awarded.
