I got skunked at Versailles also. didn;t even see one. I saw a guy that had a small 8 and a yearling doe. I also saw a couple guys leaving with some medium size does. probably 1.5 year olds. I think Versailles could have skipped a year. I'll probably try for Brown County next year if they have one.

Round 2: setting in line at Versailles again. Good luck to those going back today. Believe it or not we've always done better the second day. Stay safe and shoot straight.

I have hunted there several Times. We used to hunt there also back when it was a military Base. I took a decent 8 pointer there 3 years ago. My family will be there hunting again this year. That place is full of Turkeys and Quail. We seen tons of Turkeys and Quail every time we have hunted that place. Anybody hunting Charlestown?

At Versailles, you were not permitted to shoot before 7:30 am and not after 4:00 pm. I did hear probably 20 shots before 7:30, but the paper work was very clear that shooting hours were 7:30 - 4:00. I just assumed that all the parks had the same rule. Perhaps not?

West28 were you at the Lusk Home parking area? Either that or everyone killed all the deer after I left.

West28 were you at the Lusk Home parking area? Either that or everyone killed all the deer after I left. I was at the far north service road parking, I came out around 2:00pm and there was about 6 cars in the parking lot and 5 of them had deer. Then I went to the Inn to check out and there was several in the parking lot there as well. It appeared to be a great day for this park and I'm already looking forward to next year.

Something to think about while hunting at the State Parks is to really hunt the pressure. Think about where the deer want to go when the "orange army" invades. Get your rearend to that spot and wait....

Moray sorry I didn't say hi. I showed up at 430 am and there was a couple guys already there and we talked to see where we were going said bye and good luck. As I was walking back I ran into a guy that could not find his stand and he said about walking around so headed back to the tree. I had 2 spots but since it rained I could'nt get across the river to the best so I went to the back up there is a creek that meets the main and I was about 45 yrds to the east of where they meet. I was watching lights every where and was like man there is alot of guys out here. The closest was over 80 yrds away so I was going to stick it out. Well about 15 minutes later I seen a couple of lights coming my way then they split up and 1 light was coming my way so when he got to close I started flashing my light to give my position. After a couple of times he says I see you and turns and heads away from me and looks like he was going to cross the creek well he didn't he turned his head light red and started walking around looking up trees to see which 1 he could get in. It was clear that he didn't scout he was just going to pick a spot when he got there. He finally pick one 35 yrds away and proceeded to climb. The more I sat there the more I got ticked so I decided to leave and go home to hunt my private ground. After I got down he said giving up and I said oh ya so I packed up and started for the corner of the picnic area so I would not screw anyone else. As I walked past his tree He said something to me but I kept walking. It was still dark when I got to the truck and left. There were 9 trucks at our area and 16 around the corner. So it was a waste of gas and time. I don't think I will ever go back because I don't think I would be so nice next time. I hope you had a better experience than I did. Left hon at 330 am and was back at 830 am. So again sorry I didn't stay around and say hi. Maybe I'll catch you later.

I probably had the first two shots at harmonie this morning. After not seeing squat the first day, I wasn't gonna be picky today. Shot a doe at 6:05 and a 7 pt a minute later. Just more meat for the freezer, nothing to really brag about.
Although, I did video a red fox at 15 yards trying his best to eat part of my dead doe. If I can figure out how to download the video onto my computer, I will share with everyone. It's really interesting.

Those of us that have figured out how to hunt the hunters need all those guys that try to hunt like they are alone on private ground to be their normal selves. Honestly, where I've hunted Versailles the last three years, I have only seen one deer running and that's because she busted me.
