I jumped into the stand for a very short evening hunt this afternoon hoping to see a doe. I was in the stand for about 6 or 7 minutes when I heard a deer walking my way and it was an average doe. When I had and opportunity, I shot and missed and the deer ran away and immediately came back. I was a little astounded by this, so I nocked another arrow and waiting for another shot. My second arrow glanced of a twig I didn't see and went into the ground, just below the deer. The deer again ran off, made a loop and immediately returned again. This time it was staring at me coming right towards my tree like it was determined to walk by. My third arrow connected hard making a loud smack and the deer walked off like nothing was wrong. I almost thought I missed again, but when I got down after a bit and checked, there was blood everywhere. Blood is a bright red and heavy at times. I followed the trail for about 250 yards in the dark and I still haven't found the doe because the trail became very light. The deer has lost a lot of blood and my experience tells me it is dead somewhere, so I will be back at it in the morning. I cannot figure out where I hit the deer, stuck in the shoulder or in the chest maybe? Any ideas?

Go back today and follow up in the daylight. My buddy shot a buck on Sat and couldn't find it. After 2 hr of looking he finally found it not 5 yards off the trail in some really thick weeds. It went about 15 yds further than what he thought, even tho it had an arrow thru the heart.
Bright red blood is oxygenated blood, dark blood is blood coming back to the lungs from the muscles.

Me and my father in law and my dog looked for 6 hours and found no additional sign. We looked 3 hours this morning, no deer or additional sign.
