Had the itch to get out this evening..so this is were i sit. Have a water hole 50yrds to my left..cut cornfield directly in front of me..and a thicket directly to my right. Not bad for a warm evening..figured if they were moving i had a good chance to catch them this evening.

When you can go outside in shorts and sandals, I am going fishing! 33 bass and bluegills for the fryer.

Yes very warm..luckily its only about a 10 min walk from truck to stand...didnt get to sweaty. Was awful loud coming in though with all the dry leaves on the ground. Makes it easier to hear them coming though!

Saw 5 myself. one big doe with two young and another doe with a young one. No shots. Not sure I wanted to shoot anyways. Would have had to cut her up last night. And didn't want too. I made a lot of noise going in as well but man once in the tree couldn't hear anything with all the wind. But a day in the stand is better than any TV show!!! BB

I didnt end up seeing squat! but thats par for the year. I hunt in 3 east central indiana counties, been out prolly close to 25 times with combined morning and evening hunts. Seen one deer all year from stand and he was about 300yrdsa away in a cut cornfield. Ive tried just about everything as far as where ive been sitting and notta! Very unusual for the propertys i hunt as they usually produce year after year...including last years 162in 13 pointer i took off one of the propertys. Im hoping its the cornfields that are still standing thats causing it. Gonna stay after it though....anybody have any ideas?

I am having the slowest October for deer sightings in Franklin County that I have had in my 13 years on this lease. The previous 12 years' logs show that I average seeing more than one deer per hour spent on stand. This year, I have seen 12 deer on stand in over 40 hours of stand time. I don't know how to explain it. There is fresh sign, but we aren't seeing the deer. Nocturnal? Frustrating!

Same here metamorahunter...seeing all kinds of sign..rubs, scrapes, tracks everywhere but not a deer in sight. Im hoping its either they are nocturnal like you said or its the crop fields, im out of ideas! ive seen literally one deer all year long..very frustrating! maybe with the rut heating up and the weather changing for the better for us in the deer hunting world things will change...either way im still gonna be 25ft up in my tree.

All the deer on the trail cams (last 2 weeks) that I am getting are after 830pm till dawn. No daytime movement at all. But this weather will be changing that hopefully.

Yea having a feeling that the heat made them stay down. I usually only see about 5-10 deer before gun season... I've only been out once (last night) and saw 5 so have a feeling I will only see 5 more the rest of the year... LOL... That's not good. Last year I saw 5 deer up until the last Saturday of MZ season and on that Saturday morning I tagged out after having 17 does come running into our woods from somewhere... LOL...that's how it works for us. I usually see 2-3 deer and then wham see 10 at one time... But after tonight we should see some moving around. Keep up the hunting they will come.. Can't see them if your not out there... BB

Logged 41 hrs so far and seen 15 deer so far. all small deer. Between last year and this year bowhunting I have been out over 60 times and have not killed a deer with a bow. I feel your pain...
