I'm a college student at USI in Evansville that has moved far away from my hunting spot. I am more than willing to help out around farm or with whatever. I'll split meat with landowner. Anything to get me in the woods. Any help is appreciated. My name is Curt Tyler and my cell number is 765-318-8397. Thanks

Try some of the public lands around here. Ive gotten a few good deer off them. Inner lake and sugar ridge have a ton of hunting area. Just go the dnr site and look up where to hunt.

Thanks sir. Nice bucks? Can you shotgun hunt either of them? How strong of a rut? Again thank you sir.

Both have some very good deer hunting and are not completely overran with people. The terrain is probably like nothing you have hunted before. Give it a shot and don't give up on either place. There's deer there, just hard to find sometimes. Plenty of scouting between now and then would be helpful also.

Okay. Whats the terrain like? I hunted hilly wooded areas in my hometown with minimal fields. Love the rut with my bow. Do you happen to know any farmers with deer problems that might need help on a farm? Im willing to work without hunting and gain respect from the landowner to make them feel more comfortable with me hunting their property. I am going to be down here for 4 more years at least for my schooling so a private property spot would be ideal but i see it as a small chance in happening. I am deff going to give these public spots a shot though. I appreciate it sir.

Both have a lot of unreclaimed surface coal mine ground. Mainly spoil banks and stripper pits. A little harded to pattern deer in them. Interlake has some reclaimed ground which has a more of a western look to it.
Check them out on google earth and you can see the lay of the land by the lines the trees appear to be in. The imagine each line is 10-25 feet higher than the area between them. Makes for some fun walking.
Where are you from?

I am from Martinsville Indiana. 40 mins south of Indy and 20 mins north of Bloomington. I hunted private property my whole life and obviously took it for granted because I miss it bad. I have only been in the woods 5 times this fall.

Ive been exclusively hunting public ground so far this year with my xbow and Ive seen plenty of deer. Ive seen 1 - 5 deer every time out. I wouldn't hunt it on weekends of gun season but I would through the week day. There are a lot of excellent public hunting areas out there and all you need to do to find them is some leg work. Good luck, h.h.

Do they still have the wooded area back in behind the 'ghetto' apartments? I'm sure gun hunting would be out of the question there, but using a bow might be okay. It has been years since I have been down there, so they could have developed that area by now. I remember it being unreclaimed strip mine ground. If you're a mushroom hunter definitely head back there in the spring. I remember finding a few during my hiking class when we were back in that area.

Welcome to Evansville! There is tons of private hunting on that side of town. Get out and knock on some doors . Also go to evansville gis website and look at the accessors web page. Find out who owns wooded areas around campus and go ask for permission to bow hunt. Also, hovey is about 20 min from you. Go west on the expressway, through mt vernon, then south on 69. We see deer down there all the time when duck hunting. Good luck!

Curt, what I have found to work best, is to find out who the land owner is Nd go speak to them personally. You will be able to close more deals in person with a hand shake and a smile, then a letter.

Google a gis search for your county........ enter a random address and switch to satellite to find other properties and land owner names...good luck!
