I started chewing at a young age and dipped for about 38 years. I tried to quit several time but it never worked for me. I did the gum and patches it just didn't work. I think the biggest thing was everyone that tried to help me never had to quit so it was easy for them to tell me how to quit. The problem is quitting tobacco especially dip is hard I know I have been down that road. To get to my point I quit using a website. To read my story follow this link. thequit.org/boards/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=108A Few of us got together and formed a new website called thequit.org and we invite you to come join us and leave the can behind. See you there. thequit.org/boards/index.php

So you decided to quit putting nasty stuff in your mouth to chew on, stuff that might have come off the floor of some processing center and mixed with who knows what? Stuff that can and will cause cancer of some sort at some point in time? Stuff that will make you vomit if it goes down the throat sometimes? Stuff that stains your teeth and clothes? Stuff that makes a hell of a mess on the side of your truck whe you spit out the window or if the spit jar gets split? Stuff you don't want your wife or girlfriend chewing on, not to mention your children?
Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to quit to me, just stop buying it, and bumming off those that do.

Good luck, BTDT. Cigs are easy compared to dip.

I've tried quitting a few times and this last one has finally stuck. I've only put a dip in 3 times since Labor Day which is an accomplishment for me. A pharmacist friend told me once that niccotene is one of the most addictive substances known...I wouldn't argue that for a second!

Wasn't easy, wasn't hard. Just quit doing it.

I used to chew 2 cans of skoal a day and that didnt count the cigs that i smoked too. Sometiimes I would chew skoal and smoke cigs at the same time. I had to quit because it was effecting my blood pressure and heart so much I knew I would not live long enough to see my son grow to a man. It has now been 7.5 years and I have not had 1 taste or puff of tobacco.

Another way to look at quitting is cost. AfterI quit I paid for a new Dixie Chopper lawn mower with the money I saved.

Best thing I ever quit, a filthy disgusting habit and very unhealthy. Smoking gets all of the media attention, but chewing is quite prevalent, every bit as unhealthy and should be addressed as well. If you can't smoke someplace you shouldn't be able to chew either.
Anyway ....... good job for quitting, stick too it. Soon you will be an anti tobacco guy.
