We saw all of these this week. Had three awesome morning hunts this first week of urban. I've never seen this kind of activity this early.. Try my best to make a long story short. My brother who earned his buck Saturday, missed twice at a buck of a lifetime Wednesday night after passing three super nice bucks that morning. The wind and nerves got the best of him. Thursday morning, with his only one good broad head and my camera we both headed back to the tree where he missed. On our walk there he whispered how he has been constantly hearing antlers banging during his previous three hunts in this stand. I'm thinking, yeah whatever joker.. As we approached we heard antlers!! I was shocked. They were close! Real close! At 6:05 it was still dark and windy. Wind in our face We kneeled down and got the binocs out. Two bucks, three, holy sh!t deer everywhere. All under our tree. Two bucks engaging in some serious sparring, pushing, corn stalks flying. Big bucks. 140's I'd say. Serious pushing. And to the right of them a absolute monster. Just standing there watching the match. Plus another 15 or so deer feeding in the cut corn. It was unbelievable. We couldn't do anything at that point but lay in the grass and watch through the binocs until 6:50 or so. They never knew we were there and eventually all left the field as the sun came up. I ranged them at 105 yards. So even though it was dark we got pretty good looks with the binocs. We then closed the last 100 yards to the tree. Settled in for ten mins or so we had two small bucks sparring under our tree for the next two hours. Seen a few more does and the action tapered off quick. It was pretty warm and I'm sure the big boys we saw earlier were not moving much after day break.. What an awesome sight my brother and I will never forget. In September!?! Now I just gotta talk him into staying out of that tree for a few weeks, let it rest and get the big one when he's callable.

Sounds like you have a good hunting area.
September is always a great time to hunt. The last two weeks of September are pretty much the same as the first two weeks of October when it comes to the weather.

Maybe the deer are getting frisky early this year because they saw the Mayan Calendar?!?

I've seen similar behavior opening of bow October 1 in past years. I never had a urban spot so I was never in the woods eariler than that. I'd guess it's normal.

Spent some time in the deer wood's Sunday. Did see a couple "border scrapes" around hay field edge's. Also a few small rub's. Pretty normal for late Sept., seem's this cold weather has made some buck's a little frisky.

Do you think this warmer weather will shut all of this movement down temporarily?

Do you think this warmer weather will shut all of this movement down temporarily? I think it'll slow things down. Looks like we're in for a repeat winter of last year.

The hunting is still good right now.
A coworker of mine saw 11 deer this evening while hunting his property.
I have noticed less Deer in the local fields during the past week, I think the patterns have changed a lot in the past week.

These long range outlooks are based on composites of lots of computer models. There is no way for them to really know with much accuracy. I hope these turn out to be wrong.

Totally agree...but watching this on the weather channel shows what caused last winters warmth (ocean temps in certain locations) appears to be the same for this fall/early winter.

LOL. Last Thursday the local weather man said it was gonna be clear Sat-Sun-Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs.( So we cut hay.) It has rained Tues-Wed-Thur..... Not gonna put much credit in a long range forecast when they miss the week ahead forecast 50% of the time.
